watch The Flaming Lips put everyone in bubbles for "Race for the Prize" live performance

A few weeks ago, The Flaming Lips made a pandemic-referencing t-shirt that illustrated what one of their shows might look like this year, with not just frontman Wayne Coyne in his signature bubble, but all of the band and the audience too.

They’ve now brought that t-shirt to life in a live performance clip they shot for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. They performed “Race for the Prize” from 1999’s The Soft Bulletin to a crowd of 20 or so, all of whom are in individual bubbles. The band also had a double bubble for their two drummers. You can watch that, and check out just how much it looks like the t-shirt illustration, below.

The Flaming Lips just released new single “Flowers of Neptune 6” featuring Kacey Musgraves and say we can “expect more details soon” of new music.
