The National‘s excellent new album Sleep Well Beast is out today on 4AD, and the band have been celebrating its release in NYC all week. They played a stripped-down set at the Apple Store in Williamsburg on Wednesday, and they performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night. They did one of the album’s most upbeat songs, “Day I Die,” and had tons of guest percussionists (members of So Percussion and Buke & Gase) on stage for the performance. Watch below.

They’ll play the new album in full at Bowery Ballroom tonight (9/8). The Rough Trade store in Williamsburg is giving away tickets with the first ten purchases of the band’s new album today (though it might be too late for that already). The band’s proper tour includes a much larger NYC show on October 6 at Forest Hills Stadium with Daughter (buy tickets or win them). All dates are listed below.
