While promoting their 2019 album Help Us Stranger, The Raconteurs stopped by NYC’s legendary Electric Lady studio to perform live, which was recorded as a live EP for Spotify. In addition to their own songs, their Electric Lady set included a cover of Richard Hell & The Voidoids‘ “Blank Generation.” To further the downtown NYC connection, Jim Jarmusch introduces the band. You can listen to the whole thing below.

As for “Blank Generation,” Voidoids guitarist Ivan Julian stopped by while Jack White, Brendan Benson and the rest of the Raconteurs were at Electric Lady to talk with the band about the song’s iconic riff. “I’ve always loved that guitar part and never really sat down and exactly figured out what he’s doing,” says Jack White. “How amazing for Ivan to show up and show us how to do it.” That’s part of the hour-long documentary that accompanies the live EP, which features more with Jim Jarmusch (who narrates), more of Electric Lady, and The Raconteurs playing live. You can watch that below too.

The Raconteurs also recorded a studio version of “Blank Generation” and you can listen to that below as well.
