Morrissey biopic England is Mine is set to make its world premiere on Sunday, July 2 at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Directed by Mark Gill, the film stars Jack Lowden as a pre-Smiths Moz who spends his days on the dole sharpening his poison pen by writing letters to Melody Maker and NME. The film culminates with Johnny Marr famously knocking on his door asking if he’d like to start a band. You can watch the trailer for the film below.

England is Mine is officially out in the UK on August 4. No word on when it will be out in North America, but you can see Jack Lowden in Christopher Nolan’s new film Dunkirk on July 21.
