Thursday Hether Fortune

watch Wax Idols' Hether Fortune join Thursday for "Understanding In A Car Crash"

The reunited Thursday are on tour now, having just played Nashville last night (4/5). Since reuniting, the band has invited some younger musicians to join them on stage for “Understanding In A Car Crash” (like Meredith Graves in NJ), and they did that again last night with Hether Fortune, whose band Wax Idols is opening the first leg of this tour. Watch a video below. We recently interviewed Hether about how she first got to know Geoff Rickly:

We met when I was 14, I think? I was the biggest Thursday fan dork on the planet when I was a teenager so I went to every show within a 300 mile radius (and sometimes further haha) throughout my teens. I would linger around waiting for an opportunity to talk to Geoff about poetry and stuff. He was so nice to me. I was such an awkward nerd… I was really uncomfortable with myself as a teen. I had no confidence. But Geoff took a genuine interest in me when he had no real reason to and it helped me in so many ways, when I reflect back on it. He’s always been a hero to me.

Before playing the song last night, Geoff said to the crowd, “I don’t know if we’ll ever tour again.” We hope you do!

In addition to Wax Idols, all dates on the tour have Touche Amore and Basement opening. The second leg of dates has Cities Aviv replacing Wax Idols, and that leg hits NYC on April 29 & 30 at Irving Plaza (tickets). Thursday also play a FREE Northside Festival show in McCarren Park on June 11 with PUP, The Hotelier, and Jeff Rosenstock. RSVPs for that show are closed. Even if you did RSVP, you might wanna show up early.

We recently caught Wax Idols in Brooklyn with Pop. 1280 opening. Pop. 1280 also open for White Lung (who used to have Hether Fortune as their live bassist) at NYC’s Studio at Webster Hall on April 29. That show also has Verdigrls, and tickets are still available.
