we preview Houston's Day for Night fest on this week's BrooklynVegan Blog Radio on Sirius XMU

day-for-night

When Aphex Twin first dropped cryptic messages about a possible live appearance stateside, the rumor mill began to turn. Was it a full tour? A one off? And most of all…where? So far, it looks like the Day For Night fest in Houston, TX (Dec. 17 & 18) is the only thing Richard James has lined up.

While Aphex Twin’s set will surely be worth the trek alone, the entire lineup is rather eclectic, featuring artists from all over the map. Butthole Surfers will make a home state appearance! Little Dragon will hopefully preview some new material. There is a Bjork “digital experience,” which takes place in five different rooms during a DJ set. Who knows what that will actually be, but I’m sure it will be a trip. Other artists playing the festival are Lightning Bolt, John Carpenter, Lower Dens, Ariel Pink, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Liars, DJ Windows 98 (aka Arcade Fire’s Win Butler) and many more.

In honor of Day For Night, this week’s edition of BrooklynVegan Blog Radio on SiriusXM will feature two hours of artists playing this year’s festival. The show airs today (Wednesday, October 12) at noon and again at Midnight (Eastern time) and is also available OnDemand with the SiriusXM app. Check back after the show for the full playlist.
