Converge frontman J Bannon has been teasing a new album from his comparatively softer Wear Your Wounds project for a while, and now it's officially announced. It's called Rust On The Gates of Heaven, and it's due out July 12 via Deathwish. The title track is out now, and it's a hell of a first taste.

On Wear Your Wounds' 2017 debut album WYW, it was still technically a solo project, but J has now turned the live band -- which includes Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord, Stomach Earth, Unraveller, etc), Adam McGrath (Cave In, Nomad Stones, etc), Sean Martin (Twitching Tongues, ex-Hatebreed, ex-Kid Cudi), and Chris Maggio (ex-Trap Them, ex-Sleigh Bells, etc) -- into the studio band as well, and this first single is much more of a full-band ordeal than the WYW songs. It's still softer music compared to Converge, but other than at the beginning, it's not that soft. The song quickly turns into a dose of towering post-metal, not all that different from the more atmospheric parts of the last Converge album. It's really a tremendous, stunning song, and you can check out its Max Moore-directed video below. In addition to the main WYW band, the album also features Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe, White Horse) and Gared O’Donnell (Planes Mistaken For Stars, Hawks and Doves).

As mentioned, Wear Your Wounds are are doing an East Coast tour with Uniform that hits Brooklyn's Saint Vitus on May 17 (tickets). Blame God are on that show too.

Wear Your Wounds are also doing a West Coast run with Author & Punisher and Xasthur. All dates are listed below.
