Weekend Update’s Colin Jost and Michael Che co-hosting 2018 Emmys
Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che will host the 2018 Emmy Awards. "NBC is thrilled to be the home of this year’s Emmy Awards and with Colin and Michael in the driver’s seat as hosts, along with surprise appearances by other cast members of ‘Saturday Night Live,’" said NBC Entertain's Robert Greenbladt in a statement to Variety. "I think we are in for one of the funniest awards shows in a long time." Add Jost and Che, "We’re proud to be the first duo hosting the Emmys since Jenna Elfman and David Hyde Pierce, and somehow that’s a real fact." This year's Emmys are very SNL, as Lorne Michaels will executive produce the telecast for the first time since 1988.
The Emmys will air live from the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 17 from 8-11 PM Eastern. Nominees are announced July 12.
Saturday Night Live has three shows left in its 43rd season: Donald Glover will host and be the musical guest (as Childish Gambino) on May 5; Amy Schumer and Kacey Musgraves are on May 12; and the season wraps with host Tina Fey and musical guest Nicki Minaj on May 19.
