Well Wisher releasing debut LP on 6131, playing shows (stream a track)

Asbury Park’s Well Wisher was initially the solo project of singer/guitarist Natalie Newbold, which she started after the breakup of her old band Dollys, but it became a full band for the release of their debut album, This Is Fine (the burning doll on the album artwork is a reference to the messy breakup of Natalie’s old band). The album comes out September 28 via 6131 Records (pre-order), which is home to releases by Julien Baker, Joyce Manor, and more, and Well Wisher kinda sound like the middle ground between those two acts. (They’ve also got stuff in common with bands like Thin Lips and Kississippi, both of whom they’ve shared the stage with.) They make very catchy indie-punk, and Natalie’s voice is perfect for this kind of stuff. We’ve got the premiere of “I Know Better” below.

Well Wisher also have some upcoming Northeast shows, including a hometown record release show at Asbury Park Brewery on 10/6 with Slingshot Dakota, ManDancing and latewaves (tickets); as well as shows at Brooklyn’s Goldsounds on 10/11 and New Brunswick’s Grand Exchange on 10/14. All dates are listed below.
