Weller releasing s/t debut LP on Tiny Engines, touring (stream a track)

Philly indie rock trio Weller have been kicking around for a few years, having released the Career Fair EP and a split with Rue in 2016, and gigging with other cool bands like Fire Is Motion and Nervous Dater. Now they’re set to release their self-titled debut LP on June 29 via Tiny Engines (pre-order), and we’re premiering the song “Boroughs” from that album.

The album was recorded, mixed, and produced by Jake Ewald of Modern Baseball, and Weller also share some of Modern Baseball’s wordy, nasally delivery and laid-back jangle-punk guitars (Weakerthans fans may dig this too). “Boroughs” is real catchy stuff, and vocalist/guitarist Harrison Nantz tells us, “Writing ‘Boroughs’ was a cathartic experience for me as much as it was a challenge. It’s an attempt to blend rather dark and personal lyrical subject matter into one of the more pop-driven tracks on the record; essentially capturing a difficult moment in my life that I feel deserves a new perspective.” Listen below.

Weller also have a tour coming up, beginning with a hometown record release show on 6/29, and ending with shows in Brooklyn (BK Bazaar Cellar on 8/9) and Asbury Park (AP Brewery on 8/10). All dates are listed below.
