Neil Young at Farm Aid 2013 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Neil Young

Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Neil Young @ Carnegie Hall
Neil Young did the Crazy Horse thing for much of 2012 and 2013, playing some excellent, noisy shows, and tonight he begins a four-night run at Carnegie Hall, which will presumably be more stripped down and show off his prettier side.

Potty Mouth, Radiator Hospital, Kissing Is A Crime @ Glasslands
Tonight Glasslands hosts an excellent double bill of punky indie rock (or indie rock-y punk) with the deadpan melodies of Potty Mouth and the #feelings bedroom rock of Radiator Hospital. Local post-punks Kissing Is A Crime open, and they’re worth catching too.

Child Abuse, I Don’t Hear Nothin’ But the Blues, Nebadon, Weakwick @ Silent Barn
Local faves Child Abuse bring the heavy, technical noise to Silent tonight, and there’s a strong support bill, including I Don’t Hear Nothin’ But the Blues (whose lineup includes Mick Barr of Krallice) and savage Minneapolis noise rockers Weakwick.

Mike Birbiglia @ Union Hall
Mike Birbiglia plays big rooms these days but still loves testing out new material at cozy Union Hall. This early show is sold out.

John Hodgman @ Union Hall
Right after Birbiglia wraps up, John Hodgman will take over Union Hall for a show he’s calling “Daddy Pitchfork.” We’re not sure exactly what that is, but it’s sold out.

Wyatt Cenac’s Night Train @ Littlefield
Get on board Wyatt Cenac’s weekly Night Train comedy show, this week with guests Max Silvestri, Dan St. Germain, Tiffany Stevenson, Justy Dodge and more. Tickets are still available.
