You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Cibo Matto, Salt Catherdral @ LPR
Cibo Matto’s brand-new album is titled Hotel Valentine so it is totally appropriate they should have their album release party tonight. Sold out, but they play Brooklyn Bowl in March.

Emancipator Ensemble, Star Slinger, ODESZA, Real Magic @ Best Buy Theater
There’s a ton of great electronic music on this bill with Portland trip hop musician Emancipator, UK dance producer Star Slinger, Seattle melodic bass duo Odesza and Oakland electronic pop singer Real Magic. Bring your dancing shoes.

Team Spirit, The Liza Colby Sound, Hard Nips, Blue and Gold, Lowell @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Brooklyn Night Bazaar offers weekends of local artisan shopping, gourmet eats, beer and wine, ping pong, black light minigolf and music all under one Greenpoint roof. Tonight’s headlined by Team Spirit, who last year on V-day released an EP called Love is for Suckers. Free.

Anti-Valentines Day Cover Band Show @ Death By Audio
Get your feelings out to cover bands of Saves the Day, Alkaline Trio, Weezer, The Get Up Kids, Sonic Youth, Dead Moon and Hole at DbA’s Anti-Valentines Day Cover Band show.

Heatsick, Ned Rothenberg @ Issue Project Room
Two different experimental musicians come together for this show: the avant-electronics of Berlin’s Heatsick and US composer Ned Rothenberg, who’s worked with Fred Frith, John Zorn, Marc Ribot, and others.

together PANGEA, Mozes and the Firstborn @ Knitting Factory
Last time together PANGEA were here, Bowery Ballroom was a nonstop raging sea of stagedivers and crowdsurfers. These SoCal party boys bring out that in audiences, be warned.

Kings of Leon, Gary Clark Jr. @ MSG
Mind your sex, the brothers Followill will be setting it on fire tonight. There are pills for that though

Jonathan Wilson, The Blank Tapes @ MHOW
It may be 2014 but Jonathan Wilson parties like it’s Laurel Canyon 1973. His highly orchestral, big-sounding new record features contributions from Graham Nash, David Crosby, Jackson Browne, Josh Tillman, Wilco’s Patrick Sansone, and Mike Campbell & Benmont Tench from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. This is the second of two NYC shows.

Scuba, Oxia with No Regular Play, Ahmed Hashim @ Output
Scuba runs the Hotflush label and is also one of the pioneers of the type of dubstep that now gets called post-dubstep, or future garage, etc. Any chance to see this electronic great is a good one.

Turnstile, Diamond Youth, Angel Dust, Blind Justice @ The Acheron
Diamond Youth are the odd band out on this mostly-hardcore bill, instead opting for a mix of Weezer power pop and QOTSA atmosphere.

The Sons & Heirs, Dave Hill, Rob Sheffield @ The Bell House
Whether you’re one of two lovers entwined or think yourself unloveable, you’ll be accepted tonight at this Morrissey-themed Valentine’s Day party featuring ace tribute act Sons & Heirs, comedian and Moz-o-phile Dave Hill, and music journalist Rob Sheffield. Just know — you may go on your own, and leave on your own, and then go home and cry and want to die.

Skinny Puppy, Army of the Universe, Cult of Youth @ Webster Hall
This must be somebody’s idea of a valentine’s day show: long-running Canadian electro-industrial outfit Skinny Puppy come designed to shock…and to dance. They’re live shows are usually something else.

Beth Orton @ The Allen Room
With all the snow we’ve been getting, The Allen Room — where artists play against expansive view of Central Park — should be particularly lovely, especially with Orton’s ethereal voice. Part of the American Songbook Series.

Sarah Neufeld of Arcade Fire @ The Kitchen
Arcade Fire violinist Sarah Neufeld (also of Bell Orchestre and The Luyas) just released a three-song EP, Black Ground, which doubles as bonus material for her 2013 LP, Hero Brother. For tonight’s show, she’ll be joined by saxophonist (and sometimes Arcade Fire touring member) Colin Stetson.

Celestial Shore, Cloud Becomes Your Hand, Killer Bob, Throat Punishment, Jerry Paper @ The Ho_se
Mathy indie pop band Celestial Shore play locally a lot — a whole lot — which is probably how they make their intricate arrangements seem effortless.

The Syd Arthur / Black Girls show at Mercury Lounge was canceled due to visa/weather issues.
