What's going on Tuesday? (David Byrne, Sebadoh, Frankie Rose, Shark?, Lydia Lunch, Bridget Everett & more)

Sebadoh at Bowery Ballroom in 2012 (more by Bryan Bruchman)
Sebadoh

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

David Byrne, Marilyn Carino, Janita, John McCrea, Mike Mills, Blake Morgan, Wendy Oxenhorn, Marc Ribot, Chris Ruen @ Le Poisson Rouge
This is a benefit/rally for the Respect Music initiative which aims to get musicians more royalties from radio airplay.  It is a FREE show but you do need to RSVP by sending an email to [email protected].

White Lies, Frankie Rose @ Webster Hall
While we’re not huge on the headliners, we do think it’s worth catching opener Frankie Rose, who makes some pretty excellent dream pop.

Gardens & Villa, Diane Coffee, Waterstrider @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Diane Coffee  is basically the solo project of Foxygen’s Shaun Fleming, and his own stuff isn’t as ’60s referential as his day job. They open for California pop band Garden’s & Villa and tickets are still available.

Shark?, Island Twins, Heeney @ Silent Barn
There’s never a lack of chances to catch Shark?’s catchy garage pop jams in NYC, but they’re always worth seeing.

Sebadoh, Octagrape @ Baby’s All Right
Though Lou Barlow is often busy playing bass Dinosaur Jr. these days, he still leaves plenty of time for the band he fronts, Sebadoh, who made some of the best indie rock of the ’90s. This is their second of two NYC shows this week, both sold out.

Lydia Lunch, Weasel Walter, Bob Bert, Tim Dahl, DJ Neon Music @ Le Poisson Rouge
No wave legend Lydia Lunch throws another of her Retrovirus parties (read about them here) tonight at LPR. Guests include avant-composer Walter Weasel, former Sonic Youth drummer Bob Bert and Child Abuse bassist Tim Dahl,

Bridget Everett @ Joe’s Pub
Bridgett Everett’s performance tonight is a part of her monthly Joe’s Pub residency with her band The Tender Moments (which features Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz on bass).

Dead Leaf Echo, Dinowalrus, Autodrone, The Harrow @ Union Pool
A nice line-up of Brit-influenced shoegaze, headlined by one of NYC’s more underrated bands Dead Leaf Echo.

Bad Girlfriend, Threats, EL TOPO, JM Airis, “secret guest” @ Glasslands
Headliners at this show are garage-y, Phil Spector-y quartet Bad Girlfriend; El Topo meanwhile is a jazzy improv ensemble led by Darkside’s Dave Harrington. There’s also a “secret guest” playing too… any guesses?
