What's going on Thursday? (Godflesh, Trust, R&R Hall of Fame, La Dispute, Conor Oberst, Low Fat Getting High & more)

Godflesh @ MDF2012 (more by Fred Pessaro)
GODFLESH

Trust @ BVSXSW 2014 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Trust

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Godflesh, Cut Hands, Pharmakon @ Irving Plaza
Godflesh’s classic 1989 album Streetcleaner also serves as a description of the UK band’s sound: heavy, slow and able to strip any scum off the pavement. After postponements, they’ll be in the (god)flesh in NYC tonight. Tickets are still available. If you’re at the show, look for the guys from Invisible Oranges who will be in the hallway recording segments for Tuesday’s East Village Radio show (listen to to the show Tuesday at 10pm to hear those segments).

Trust, Mozart’s Sister @ (le) poisson rouge
Trust is the nom-de-synth of Toronto artist Robert Alfons who makes puts a gothy spin on house pop, courtesy his rather sinister vocal style. See them in the darkest room possible. His new album, Joyland, just came out on Arts & Crafts. Opening tonight is Mozart’s sister, the solo project of Think About Life / Shapes & Sizes’ singer Caila Thompson- Hannant. Worth getting their early for.

The Love Language, Porches, Kill Devil Hills @ Baby’s All Right
North Carolina indie rockers The Love Language are continuing to tour this year in support of 2013’s Ruby Red . Also on the bill are one of Brooklyn’s most promising new bands, Porches.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony @ Barclays Center
Tonight, Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt will all be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Among other things, we’ll get a Nirvana performance (possibly fronted by Joan Jett), and maybe get to witness some Courtney Love/Dave Grohl awkwardness on stage.

Radical Dads, No Other, Jupiter Boyz, Quiet Down @ Death By Audio
Sad that Wild Flag called it quits? Radical Dads follow a similar path and are one of Brooklyn’s more underrated bands and are always fun live. Also on the bill are Philadelphia trio No Other whose latest EP has the wonderful title, I Believe in Werner Herzog.

Tomutonttu, Jooklo Duo (with Bill Nace) @ Issue Project Room
Tonight, Finnish sound artist Tomutonttu plays his first US show since 2010, and opening is a collaborative set between Italian free jazz duo Jooklo Duo and Body/Head’s Bill Nace.

La Dispute, Pianos Become The Teeth, Mansions @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
It’s an excellent double bill of post-hardcore from La Dispute, whose new record Rooms of the House has them three for three in terms of consistently great and different-sounding records, and the screamo atmospherics of Pianos Become the Teeth. Mansions lean more towards grungy power pop, but should make for a solid opening set.

Conor Oberst, James Vincent McMorrow @ The Greene Space
It’s the second of the two-night Gigstock, which mixes”showcase-length sets with conversation.” Like last night, tonight’s a good double bill with Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst and Bon Iver/James Blake enthusiast James Vincent McMorrow.

Low Fat Getting High, Bennio Qwerty, Big Neck Police, Fins @ The Living Gallery
Local punks Low Fat Getting High just announced a new EP, Poor Circulation, which we’ll hopefully get to hear some of tonight. You can get a taste of it from its new single, “Police Cop,” below. Great bill all around tonight too.

Jowe Head & the Celestial Choir, pHoaming Edison, Lame Drivers @ Union Pool
As a member of Swell Maps and Television Personalities, Jowe Head earned his spot in the post-punk/indie hall of fame. He’s got a new album, but he plays tracks from his old bands too. His backing band, Celestial Choir, features Magnetic Fields’ Claudia Gonson and members of Mad Scene and Fly Ashtray.

Justin Vivian Bond @ Joe’s Pub
A regular in NYC’s drag scene for years, and once a member of the duo Kiki and Herb (with Kenny Mellman, who is now in The Julie Ruin), Justin Vivian Bond performs his new show, The Drift tonight. The show “creates a new, free associative, collage of spoken word and song inspired by the story of Karen Stone, a retired actress who drifts from one space to another — either in her mind, in couture or in bed.”

Feist (solo), Kevin Drew @ Tarrytown Music Hall
It’s been about three years since Feist released a new album. Hopefully she’ll fill us in on what’s going on (and play some new songs) tonight. Her old Broken Social Scene pal Kevin Drew opens.

Flight Facilities, JDH & Dave P @ Highline Ballroom
Australian duo Flight Facilities probably know how to make excellent nachos — they don’t know the meaning of “too much cheese.” Embrace the fromage and dance tonight.

Chick Corea @ Town Hall
Jazz legend, Grammy winner and pianist extraordinaire, Chick Corea will be doing what he does best tonight. It’s a solo show, just him and his instrument.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
