You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Built To Spill, The Warm Hair @ Stone Pony
When people talk about ’90s Indie Rock, certainly at least some of that talk is aimed at Built to Spill. While their output hasn’t been as consistent since Clinton left office, the hat trick of There’s Nothing Wrong with Love, Perfect from Now On, and Keep it Like a Secret more than earned their place in the hall of fame.

Shark?, The Pharmacy, Bad Lovers, Dead Stars @ Cake Shop
Lovers of ’90s indie rock (who aren’t going to Built to Spill) might want to check out this show. Both Shark? and Dead Stars do the decade proud.

Black N’ Blue Bowl @ The Well
The annual NYC hardcore festival Black N’ Blue Bowl kicks off today with sets from Agnostic Front, Ludichrist, All Out War, Brain Slug, and more. In what may or may not be exciting news, Hatebreed and Biohazard play today too. The fest wraps up tomorrow.

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Fletcher C. Johnson, Bad Girlfriend, Juniper Rising, Onwe @ Baby’s All Right
Seven strong Aussie outfit King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard make psych-rock not unlike Black Angels or the BJM. They also made a narrated concept album set during the American Civil War. This is their second night at Baby’s.

Ghost B.C., King Dude @ Best Buy Theater
Satanic rockers Ghost B.C. bring their costumed live show back to NYC tonight, and providing quality support is noir-folk balladeer King Dude.

OFF!, Cerebral Ballzy, NASA Space Universe @ Bowery Ballroom
Hardcore punk supergroup OFF! features members of a handful of great bands, including frontman Keith Morris whose EP with Black Flag is probably the biggest reference point for OFF!’s stuff. It’s all ’80s throwback stuff, but we’ll take it coming from some of the guys who actually pioneered this kind of thing.

Swearin’, Radiator Hospital, Aye Nako, Pegasus Warning (DJ Set) @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar (FREE)
It’s a great bill at Brooklyn Night Bazaar of bands that blur the lines between indie rock and pop punk. If you’re unfamiliar with the bands, fans of anything from The Get Up Kids to Built to Spill should dig the whole bill. Like all BKNB shows, this is free.

Visuals, High Water, Dave Harrington @ Cameo Gallery
Nicolas Jaar’s label Other People is hosting a label night at Cameo tonight, including Dave Harrington of Nico’s band Darkside, and High Water who often collaborates with both of them.

Beverly, Las Rosas, The Moon Dudes @ Death by Audio
While Frankie Rose has left NYC for LA, Drew Citron carries on the Beverly flame now with a full band. Their debut album is loaded with Pixies/Breeders-influenced indie rock pop gems.

Sophie, Lee Bannon, Dubbel Dutch @ Glasslands
After the Peelander-Z show, Glasslands hosts this late electronic show headlined by buzzy UK producer Sophie, whose 2013 single “Bipp” was one of the more addictive dance singles of last year.

Morcheeba @ Irving Plaza
Trip hop vets Morcheeba released Head Up High last year, their second with singer Skye Edwards returning to the fold. (She’d been out of the band from 2003 – 2009.) The band haven’t messed with their patented sound too much but, why yes, there are a couple nods to dubstep in there too.

Lilly Wolf, Bridges and Powerlines, Dot Dash, Ma’am, Dan Hubbard and The Humadors @ Pianos
Of note on this bill: Washington DC’s Dot Dash, which features members of Julie Ocean and wordy ’90s indiepoppers Tree Fort Angst.

Peelander-Z @ Riot Fest Chicago 2013 (more by Kirstie Shanley)

Peelander Z, Math the Band, Bluejay @ Glasslands
Ain’t no party like a Peelander-Z party, and Math the Band should do a good job warming us up for it.

Talib Kweli @ Rough Trade
There’s never a lack of chances to see Talib Kweli in his hometown of NYC, but with over a decade and a half of material as great as he has, we’re not complaining.

Porches, Tanks Amigo, Bent Shapes, Laughing Fingers @ Shea Stadium
Boston’s Bent Shapes debut album from last year is a little sharper than your average indie pop platter, with a welcome bit of angularity, muscle and attitude to compliment the jaunty tunes. They play tonight with one of the most talked-about new bands in Brooklyn, Porches.

Chromeo, Oliver @ Terminal 5
An amalgam of early-’80s electro-R&B (Cameo, Rockwell, various Jacksons), Chromeo are not afraid to embrace the cheese. And if you aren’t either, it’s a fun time. The band’s new album White Women, is out now.

Chromeo (DJ Set), andhim, Bedouin @ Verboten
You can keep the party going after T5 tonight when Chrome spin at this new Williamsburg dance club.

Gerd Janson @ TBA Brooklyn
Famed house DJ and Running Back label domo Gerd Janson will be brining a little Berlin/Frankfurt style to Brooklyn tonight. Part of the Red Bull Music Academy.

Cheetah Chrome, The Nuclears @ The Delancey (FREE)
Without Cheetah Chrome (a member of Dead Boys and Rocket From the Tombs) punk as we know it today probably wouldn’t exist. That’s a pretty good reason to see him for free.

‘Metal Cats’ release party w/ Planning For Burial, Sea Of Bones, Belus @ Union Pool
In case you haven’t heard about the new Metal Cats book, it’s a book full of photos of metal musicians with their cats. (Awesome right?) Tonight, that book celebrates its release and some solid bands will be there including the gloomy Planning for Burial, the sludgy Sea of Bones, and the doomy Belus.

The Faint, Suuns @ Webster Hall
Dancepunk vets The Faint released their first new album in six year, Doom Abuse, back in April which finds them picking up pretty much where they left off. Tonight’s the second of three NYC shows. Don’t miss Montreal’s Suuns who open.

Eddie Izzard @ Beacon Theatre
Eddie Izzard brings his current show (which he’s translated and performs in three languages!), “Force Majeure,” to North America and this his fourth of five Beacon shows.

Bruce Springsteen @ Mohegan Sun Arena
The boss isn’t hitting any NYC venues on his current tour, but if you don’t mind traveling a bit to see him you can catch tonight’s and/or tomorrow’s shows at Mohegan Sun. Both sold out.

Hull, Bloody Hammers @ Saint Vitus
This show is actually the afterparty for a wedding, but it’s open to the public and headlined by Brooklyn psych-sludge purveyors Hull. Please wish the happy couple congratulations!
