You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

The Flatmates, My Favorite, The Haywains, Bart and Friends @ Knitting Factory
Night 2 of NYC Popfest features the NYC debut of veteran UK indiepop band The Flatmates, and the first show in a long, long time from cult group My Favorite.

Yann Tiersen @ Highline Ballroom
Best known for his score to Amelie, French musician/composer Yann Tiersen will just released his new album, ∞ (Infinity), via Mute, which falls somewhere between modern composer and outright pop.

Anti-Nowhere League, Cro-Mags, Mephiskapheles, Night Birds, Up For Nothing, DJ the Guvnor @ Irving Plaza
It’s a night of classic punk at Irving Plaza with ’80s-era UK vets Anti-Nowhere League and NYC crossover thrash vets Cro-Mags. Newer band Night Birds are always worth catching as well.

The Menzingers, PUP, Cayetana, Lemuria @ Webster Hall
There’s a stacked bill of melodic punk/indie rock at Webster Hall tonight with headliners The Menzingers who are touring behind their new alt-rock-oriented Rented World. Opening are Canadian rippers PUP, and Philly’s Cayetana and Buffalo’s Lemuria who both make scrappy indie punk.

Rush Midnight, Nightbox @ Rough Trade
Russ Manning just released his debut album as Rush Midnight which is full of slinky ’80s Caribbean/new wave/disco. It’s like Sting guest starring on Miami Vice. That’s not a bad thing, necessarily. Russ knows his way around a groovy bassline.

Lower, Dark Blue, La Cruor @ The Acheron
Denmark’s Lower bring their moody punk to The Acheron tonight for their second of two NYC shows this week. And don’t miss Philly trio Dark Blue (mems Clockcleaner, Ceremony, Paint It Black, Purling Hiss) who also make moody punk and just signed to the newly re-activated Jade Tree.

Bambi Kino (mbrs of Nada Surf/Cat Power/GBV), Charles Bissel & Kevin Whelan, Palomar, The Big Bright, White Collar Crime @ The Bell House
Tonight is a benefit for Windsor Terrace’s PS154, featuring Charles Bissel and Kevin Whelan of The Wrens, plus high-concept, indie-rock-royalty-filled Beatles tribute act Bambi Kino, Palomar and more.

DJ Marfox, DJ Deeon, DJ Manny B2B RP Boo, Mumdance, J-Cush, UNiiQU3 B2B Tiga, Durban @ The Westway (RBMA)
It’s an excellent night for forward-thinking dance music at The Westway for this Lit City Trax party happening as part of the Red Bull Music Academy. Many of the artists playing tonight will also be back in town for Warm Up this summer.

Sage Francis, Metermaids, B. Dolan @ LPR
Providence rapper Sage Francis, a past collaborator of both Bad Religion and Atmosphere, put out a new album, Copper Gone, this year and is currently on tour in support of that.

Hector’s Pets, Games, A. Rex and J. Rex, Fletcher C Johnson @ Baby’s All Right
NYC garage rockers Hector’s Pets are celebrating the release of their new album Pet-O-Feelia. The night’s undercard is pretty good, with power-poppers Games, plus A. Rex and J. Rex, and “special guest” Fletcher C Johnson.

Heartsrevolution, NinjaSonik, Demetra, Alyson Greenfield @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Brooklyn Night Bazaar offers weekends of local artisan shopping, gourmet eats, beer and wine, ping pong, black light minigolf and music all under one Greenpoint roof. Tonight is a lineup of glitchy dancepop, headlined by Heartsrevolution.

Midnight Magic, Hess Is More @ Cameo Gallery
If you like your dance music played by a skilled live band, you’re in luck as both bands on this bill fall under that category. Midnight Magic are straight-up disco; Hess is More find more of a krauty groove and tonight play as an eight-piece band.

Forgetters, Bennio Qwerty, The Seth @ Death by Audio
Forgetters, the current band of Jawbreaker frontman Blake Schwarzenbach, will rip up DbA tonight; power trio Bennio Qwerty and The Seth are worth catching too.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
