Timber Timbre

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Timber Timbre, ThusOwls @ Bowery Ballroom
Timber Timbre returned last year with Hot Dreams that had their unique brand of noir folk sounding good as ever. Tonight their current tour stops in NYC for its first of two Bowery Ballroom shows.

Lauryn Hill @ Highline Ballroom
Lauryn Hill’s currently in the midst of a nine-show NYC run on her intimate acoustic tour. This is the third show, and it’s sold out.

1349, Origin, Abysmal Dawn, Wolvhammer @ Gramercy Theatre
Norwegian black metal vets 1349 headline this stacked show that also features tech death freaks Origin, Relapse DMers Abysmal Dawn and the blackened Wolvhammer.

Ricky Eat Acid, Glass Gang, Conner Youngblood, Abhi//Dijon @ Mercury Lounge
When the very busy Sam Ray isn’t playing in his punk band Teen Suicide or his indie rock band Julia Brown, he’s making electronic music as Ricky Eat Acid, the moniker he plays under tonight.

Doe, Piers, Surfbort, Lame @ Palisades
UK trio Doe pull from ’90s indie rock and emo influences. With a new compliation out on Old Flame, the band are over for a bunch of NYC-area shows, this being the second.

Philm, Gozu, Long Day Gone @ Saint Vitus
Sadly Dave Lombardo is no longer behind the kit in Slayer, but luckily the skins master is keeping busy with other projects. His new-ish band Philm hits Saint Vitus tonight for their first of two NYC shows on their ongoing tour.

Diet Cig, Charly Bliss, Earl Boykins, Pocket Hercules @ Silent Barn
New Paltz DIY pop band Diet Cig celebrate their new Over Easy EP (on Father/Daughter records) at this release show tonight with other local likeminded bands.

Sapropelic Pycnic, Blood Magic Duo, Rob Jacobs, Voice Coils @ Trans-Pecos
The touring artist tonight is Rob Jacobs of Chicago experimental trio Wei Zhongle, who just put out his debut solo album which is highlighted by his very eccentric voice. He’s joined by Blood Magic Duo (aka Jason Ajemian & Jason Nazary), Sapropelic Pycnic (aka Kathleen of Spires That in the Sunset Rise), and the Mitski-fronted prog supergroup Voice Coils.

DonChristian, Butch Dawson, Black Zheep DZ, Soduh, Ryan P., Elon @ Baby’s All Right
Local rapper DonChristian put out the solid Renzo Piano album last year that featured Le1f and Antwon, and if you like the kind of dark, left-field stuff those guys make, you’ll likely dig DonChristian too.

Night Train w/ Wyatt Cenac @ Littlefield
For tonight’s weekly Night Train comedy series, Cenac welcomes D.C. Benny, Hari Kondabolu, Jo Firestone and more.

For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
