You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds @ Webster Hall
When Oasis split up, the funnier, talented Gallagher brother struck out on his own making music pretty much like what he did in his old band. And he’s still good at it, as shown on High Flying Birds’ new album Chasing Yesterday.

John Cooper Clarke, Mike Garry @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
With his unmistakeable hairdo and Manchester accent, John Cooper Clarke looks and sounds much as he did when he would open for bands like The Fall, Buzzcocks and Joy Division in the late ’70s. His punk poetry — like the classic “Chickentown” — still rings true as well.

Tigers Jaw, Lemuria, Somos @ Bowery Ballroom
Tigers Jaw returned last year with the Smiths-via-Brand New indie rocker Charmer, and they’re currently on the road once again in support of it. Tonight’s their second of two NYC shows with two other indie/punk bands, Lemuria and Somos.

Glasser, Missy Mazzoli & Victoire, Noveller @ Le Poisson Rouge
Brooklyn composer/pianist Missy Mazzoli and her ensemble Victoire are celebrating their new work at LPR tonight, and it’s with an excellent bill of art pop artist Glasser and guitar soundscaper Noveller.

H2O, White Collar Crime, Up For Nothing @ Saint Vitus
NYHC/pop punk vets H2O are celebrating their 20th anniversary with four hometown shows at Saint Vitus this week, which will have them playing two albums in full at each show (though they aren’t announcing which albums are which nights). This is the second.

Car Seat Headrest, Kleenex Girl Wonder @ Mercury Lounge
Seattle resident Will Toledo has made music under the name Car Seat Headrest for a few years now. His music pulls from a wide variety of influences, but he assimilates it all into his scruffy, literate, bedroom guitar pop sound which is all his own.

Samo Sound Boy, Lemonade, Dubbel Dutch, Mickey (MATES) @ Good Room
Dance all night with Samo Sound Boy (aka 1/2 of DJ Dodger Stadium), a live set from balaeric duo Lemonade, and Fetty Wap/Baauer collaborator Dubbel Dutch.

Yonatan Gat, Yvette, Jib Kidder, Charlie Rauh @ Aviv
The former Monotonix man is in midst of a four-week residency at DIY spot Aviv and tonight’s an especially good show, with awesomely noisy duo Yvette and Weird World/Domino artist Jib Kidder.

Natural Child, Faux Ferocious, Gym Shorts @ Baby’s All Right
Nashville trio Natural Child are a hell-raising, southern-fried good time, and they are seriously good musicians to boot. This is the first of two nights at Baby’s.

Acid Mothers Temple, ST 37, DYN @ Mercury Lounge
Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O., the improvisational space rock variant of the Japanese psych-rock collective, recently reissued their 2006 album, Have You Seen the Other Side of the Sky?, on vinyl and are over touring in support

Delicate Steve @ MOSCOT
Guitar noodler/wunderkind Steve Marion can play both delicately and aggressively, and this show in the SoHo branch of the MOSCOT eyewear chain is free if you RSVP’d.

Alex Bleeker & The Freaks, EZTV, John Andrews & The Yawns @ Palisades
When not playing bass in Real Estate, Alex Bleeker gets real jammy with his own band, The Freaks. Also on the bill tonight are local jangly power-pop act EZTV.

Beverly, Scully, Milk Dick @ Silent Barn
It’s an all-Brooklyn lineup headlined by the poppy, Breeders-y sounds of Beverly, with excellent support from the garagey Scully, and snotty, scuzzy (in a good way) Milk Dick.

Those Darlins, Adia Victoria, Johnny Ain’t Bad @ Rough Trade
Rock and rollers Those Darlins team up with past collaborator and fellow Nashville musician Adia Victoria for tonight’s show.

Master, Solstice, Dismemberment, Hate Storm Annihilation, Sunlord @ The Acheron
Death metal vets Master have influenced tons of newer bands, but there’s nothing like seeing some OGs in action. Tonight they play NYC ahead of their Maryland Deathfest appearance.

A conversation with A$AP Rocky @ Red Bull Music Academy
A$AP Rocky released one of the stronger rap albums in recent memory with 2013’s Long. Live. A$AP, and he’s finally ready to follow it with a new one next week. Tonight’s appearance is just a conversation, but maybe we’ll learn some more about this new album.

Author & Punisher, SpeakOnion, Digit216, Theologian, Bruzed @ Fat Baby
One-man industrial band Author & Punisher (aka Tristan Shone) creates his own equipment and comes out with one hell of a racket.

Awkwafina @ Baby’s All Right
Quirky NYC rapper Awkwafina plays a release party at Baby’s tonight, and she’s promising never-before-heard songs and special guests.

Saul Williams, Sons of an Illustrious Father, Haleek Maul @ Brooklyn Bowl
It’s a diverse bill at Brooklyn Bowl, with spoken word artist Saul Williams teaming with folk rock band Sons of an Illustrious Father and rapper Haleek Maul.

Strung Out, Red City Radio, La Armada @ Asbury Lanes
Metallic punk vets Strung Out are currently on the road with two promising newer bands, the gravelly-voiced Red City Radio and Chicago-via-Dominican Republic hardcore band La Armada. They play NJ tonight and NYC this Sunday.

Nate Young, Mario Diaz De Leon, James Rushford, Yarn/Wire @ First Unitarian Congregational Society
This is the second-annual Tectonics Fest, presented by ISSUE Project Room, that “provides a rare forum for the critical consideration of new developments in contemporary composition, with explorations of improvisation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and experimental performance practice from an international array of emerging and established composers.” This, the first night, is highlighted by a new commission by Nate Young of Wolf Eyes with Mario Diaz de Leon.

Greg Proops @ The Bell House
This is a live taping of the comedian’s Greg Proops is the Smartest Man in the World podcast. Expect arched eyebrows and much laughter.
