You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Tamaryn, Samantha Urbani @ Le Poisson Rouge
Tamaryn went from gothy shoegaze to gothy, shoegazy pop (there’s a difference) on her new terrific album, Cranekiss. Tonight’s the record release show with onetime Friends singer Samantha Urbani opening.

Deradoorian, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Image Man @ Trans-Pecos
Deradoorian’s new album is a wild ride. It pulls sounds from all over the globe, it’s part psych, part prog, and always strangely accessible. Tonight’s her first of two NYC shows this weekend.

So Hideous, Set and Setting, North, Bereft, Sangharsha @ Saint Vitus
So Hideous’ upcoming album puts screamo, post-rock, and atmospheric black metal in a blender, and adds a noticeable modern classical influence courtesy of a 30-piece orchestra. Their tour with the similarly heavy/atmospheric Set and Setting hits NYC tonight.

Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Andrew Combs @ Bowery Ballroom
For fans of country that shies away from top 40’s slick sounds but remains accessible, both artists on this bill are worth catching.

Raven, Fate Breaks Dawn, METALFIER, Moniasin, Oblivion, Unholy Dispute @ Nihil Gallery
NWOBHM vets Raven have been going strong since dropping their debut single 35 years ago, and this year returned with their thirteenth album, ExtermiNation. Their last show here was loaded with classics.

Heems, Chris Rose (host), Seaton Smith, Dan Soder @ Livestream Public
Das Racist may be over but Heems is still making quality music on his own, most recently releasing the 2015 album Eat, Pray, Thug. Tonight he’ll be interviewed (and he’ll perform) at music-comedy “Late Night Basement” show taking place at this multi-use Bushwick events space.

Machinedrum, Dave Q, Alex English, Hiyawatha @ Slake
Production wiz Machinedrum is moving from NYC to Los Angeles. Come dance the night away at his farewell party.

Cold Fronts @ Fulton Stall Market
South Street Seaport’s multi-use Fulton Stall Market is hosting free shows on Friday. The space is nice, there’s bar and a secluded courtyard…worse ways to spend a couple hours after work on a Friday. Tonight’s performers are Philly band Cold Fronts.
