What's going on Sunday? (Royal Headache / Sheer Mag / Gotobeds, Eskimeaux, Flowers of Evil & more)

Sheer Mag @ LPR earlier this year (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Sheer Mag

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Royal Headache, Sheer Mag, The Gotobeds @ Saint Vitus
With a terrific new album, High, just out, Australia’s Royal Headache in town for three sold-out Brooklyn shows with Sheer Mag. Both bands raise a ruckus, and this is the final one of the three. It’s also got arguably the best opener with Pittsburgh’s great The Gotobeds who will release their next LP on Sub Pop.

Eskimeaux, Told Slant, Bellows @ Riis Park Beach Bazaar
It’s an all-Epoch lineup at Riis Park Beach Bazaar today, headlined by Eskimeaux, whose recent OK is one of the better DIY-pop albums of this year.

Flowers of Evil, Surfbort, OCDPP @ Cake Shop
It’s Retro Punk Side Project Night at Cake Shop with Flowers of Evil (members of Crocodiles, A Place To Bury Strangers, SISU, and Young Boys) who lean UK 1977, and OCDPP (members of Vivian Girls, Dum Dum Girls) who lean LA 1980. In between are wild rabble-rousers Surfbort. This’ll be a fun show.

Damien “J. Gong” Marley with Stephen “Ragga” Marley & Morgan Heritage @ Central Park SummerStage
Two of Bob Marley’s songs join forces on the “Catch a Fire” tour that also features band Morgan Heritage. This is a ticketed SummerStage show.

THOLLEM/CHASE (Thollem Electric and Brian Chase), Hamish Kilgour, Kyle Forester, Bentley Anderson @ Trans-Pecos
A night of musicians better known for not being in the spotlight in their main bands tonight they shine. Kyle Forester, who plays in Crystal Stilts and Ladybug Transistor, is prepping a solo album and tonight debuts his solo band.
