What's going on Wednesday? (Joell Ortiz, Garrett Klahn, Ttotals, Hoferlanz, Infinity Girl, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, more)

Joell Ortiz

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Joell Ortiz & Illmind @ The Wick
Joell Ortiz and Illmind teamed up for the very good collaborative album Human this year, and they’ve been supporting it with a number of local shows. Here’s another, billed as “human. The Art Show (Joell Ortiz & !llmind).”

Lake Street Dive, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis @ Central Park SummerStage
Sibling trio Kitty, Daisy & Lewis make vintage sounding country-fried blues but have some interesting ties to UK punk and post punk. Their mom is Ingrid Weiss of The Raincoats and their new album The Third was produced by Mick Jones of The Clash and Big Audio Dynamite.

Pill, Ttotals, White Kyle, WALL @ Elvis Guesthouse
Nashville “outer blues” duo Ttotals highlight this bill that is headlined by saxxy Brooklyn no wave skronkers Pill.

Hoferlanz @ Union Pool
Multi-instrumentalist Ben Lanz has played in The National, Beirut, Sufjan Stevens’ band and more, and if you like those bands you’ll probably dig the band he leads, Hoferlanz, as well. Tonight’s the release show for their new record.

Have Gun Will Travel, Garrett Klahn (Texas Is The Reason) @ Bowery Electric
Texas Is the Reason are unfortunately no longer reunited, but frontman Garrett Klahn is staying active as a solo artist. Tonight begins his 2-night NYC run opening for Florida’s Have Gun, Will Travel.

What Moon Things, Infinity Girl, Happy You, Pencil @ Shea Stadium
Local shoegazers Infinity Girl recently signed to Topshelf and put out their new album Harm on the label. Tonight’s the release show.

Babydungeons @ Babycastles
Tonight is another in Babycastles’ “Babydungeons” comedy series that embraces humor that “does not necessarily come from comedians (but we like comedians). Babydungeons is people. Babydungeons is pretentious and passive about overintellectualizing the world (this is the life that chose me, not the life I chose). Babydungeons needs more reverb on this microphone.” Tonight features Daniel Simonsen, Mary Houlihan, Ryan Bennett, Regi Metcalf, Sean J. Patrick Carney, Chandler Moses and Alexandra Tatarsky. Hosted by Andrew Ritchie, with DJ Night Sax.

DonMonique @ Baby’s All Right (Pussypower party)
Earlier this year, DonMonique released the very good Thirst Trap EP. Tonight she plays the Pussypower party which is: “Power as held by women. An exclusive brand expression to celebrate & empower women of all walks of life. Your new favorite party thrown by girls, for girls at Baby’s All Right.” Tonight has resident DJ That’s So Raben plus DJs Hannah Rad and Haruka Salt, and hosts Ebone Simone Johnson, Lolita Bandita, Lace Tomer, Dnice Romero, and Kristen Scalise.
