You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Heilung @ Webster Hall
Metal-friendly Nordic dark folk band Heilung — think Wardruna or Dead Can Dance — released their sophomore album Furtha in 2019 on Season of Mist, and now the band — whose members are spread across Norway, Denmark, and Germany — are on their first-ever North American tour. They play Webster tonight and January 29.

The Residents (performing 'God In Three Persons') @ MoMA
Though co-founder Hardy Fox died a year ago, mostly anonymous art rock collective The Residents continue on and are presenting their 1988 opus God in 3 Persons live for the first time ever with a seven-piece band and audio-visual theatrical experience. This is night one of two.

Peter Murphy (Tribute to David Bowie) @ (le) poisson rouge
Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy wraps up his rescheduled solo residency at LPR with his second of two tributes to David Bowie.

The Sadies @ Union Pool
Canadian twangy indie rock greats The Sadies return to Union Pool for another multi-night run. This is Night 2.

Matrixxman, Sandrien, Mike Servito @ Basement NY
San Francisco producer Matrixxman makes driving house and techno that's sleek, dark and relentless that should sound killer through Basement's soundsystem.

Samantha Urbani, Sedona, Tara @ Elsewhere
Songwriter and Blood Orange collaborator Samantha Urbani has dropped the occasional single since her former group Friends disbanded several years ago, and she'll perform those tracks and more at this Elsewhere show tonight.

Hannah Cohen, Renata Zeiguer, Uni Ika Ai @ The Sultan Room
New York singer-songwriter Hannah Cohen heads to very cool Bushwick venue The Sultan Room tonight, supporting last year's very good Welcome Home. She'll be joined by fellow NYC artists Renata Zeiguer and Uni Ika Ai.

Dave Hill @ Union Hall
Comedian (and occasional BV contributor) Dave Hill stops by Union Hall for this live taping of his podcast History Fluffer. The podcast has Dave giving a "first-person account of different periods throughout history while Jim Biederman, Chris Gersbeck and Jodi Lennon call bullsh*t on most of what he's saying."

The Giraffes, Mother Feather, Tower, Cold Dice @ Saint Vitus Bar
Brooklyn's The Giraffes have been making demented, riffy hard rock since the early '00s and show no signs of slowing down, having released Flower of the Cosmos last year.

Field Mouse, Addy, The Glow @ ALPHAVILLE
This is a solid indie rock bill all around, with Topshelf labelmates Field Mouse and Addy, and LVL UP offshoot The Glow.

Child Abuse, Decor, Dog, TEL @ Trans-Pecos
Long-running Brooklyn experimental trio Child Abuse (Tim Dahl, Eric Lau, and Oran Canfield) released new album Imaginary Enemy on Skin Graft Records last year and remain an intense live experience.

'Jagged Little Pill' (Broadway cast performance) @ Barnes & Noble -- UES
The new Alanis Morissette musical Jagged Little Pill recently made its debut on Broadway last fall, and the musical's cast will head to the Barnes and Noble Upper East Side location for a special in-store performance and signing. Entry is free with purchase of the musical's cast recording.

You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
