What's going on Friday?

giorgio-moroder

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Giorgio Moroder (DJ set) @ Flash Factory
Electronic pop pioneer Giorgio Moroder continues to perform and make music since having his career refreshed via Daft Punk a few years ago. Expect a set of greatest hits, all of which still sound great.

Julie Byrne, Infinity’s Song, Suno Deko @ Rough Trade
Julie Byrne releases her first album for Ba Da Bing, Not Even Happiness, today, and it’s an excellent dose of hushed, late ’60s-style folk. This is her album release show.

Migos @ Highline Ballroom
Migos already have one of the biggest rap songs of the year with “Bad and Boujee,” and today they release the album that’s home to that song, Culture. Not surprisingly, this show is sold out.

Plaid, Teengirl Fantasy @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Veteran UK electronic duo Plaid are on tour in continued support of last year’s Warp-released The Digging Remedy. Tonight they play NYC with the great local duo Teengirl Fantasy opening.

Show Me The Body, NOLIFE, Pictureplane, EU1OGY, Slums @ Saint Vitus
Local punk-rap band Show Me The Body have a reputation for gracing their hometown with unforgettable shows, and you can see it for yourself tonight.

Escort, Superhuman Happiness @ Brooklyn Bowl
This is a double bill of local bands that combine orchestral arrangements with danceable pop, the disco-leaning Escort and the more indie-ish Superhuman Happiness.

Shilpa Ray, Kominas, Hearing Things @ Littlefield
One of the more underrated musicians in NYC is punk blues singer Shilpa Ray. Tonight she headlines a benefit to support immigrant communities called ‘Before the Wall.’

Machinedrum, Strangeloop, Timeboy, Taso, DJ Spinn, DJ Earl @ Webster Hall
Producer/electronic musician Machinedrum released his latest album Human Energy (which featured Jesse Boykins III, Dawn Richard, and more) last year, and tonight he’s doing a Human Energy A/V performance.

ACxDC, Cloud Rat, Backslider, Die Choking, Escuela, Goolagoon, Grindmother, Chepang, Death Vacation, Sick Shit @ Silent Barn (1Fest)
Today Silent Barn hosts 1Fest, a loaded hardcore/grindcore show that might be the last NYC show for ACxDC.

‘A Night of Symphonic Hip Hop’ with Nelly @ NJPAC
Nelly was an unstoppable hitmaker in the early 2000s, and now he’s on tour playing those hits backed by a symphony orchestra. It looks pretty awesome.

Adam Ant‘s Kings of the Wild Frontier tour was supposed to hit NYC tonight but that show has been postponed.
