What's going on Friday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

LCD Soundsystem @ Brooklyn Steel
It’s been quite a year for James Murphy who came back with a fourth LCD Soundsystem album, American Dream, that ended up being worth the grief of their “comeback” after breaking up in 2011. They;’re wrap up their 2017 with a 10-night run on their home turf, this being the penultimate show.

Ceremony, Nothing, Remote Control @ Saint Vitus
Ceremony and Nothing make for a pretty killer pairing. Both have hardcore backgrounds and now make post-punk and shoegaze, respectively. They’re doing two nights at Vitus, tonight and tomorrow.

Spectre Folk, Twigs of Sister Tomorrow, Kyle Forester @ Union Pool
It’s a night of twisted psych, with Peter Nolan’s Spectre Folk (which includes Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelly)) plus Twigs of Sister Tomorrow (which features Gary Panter among others) and former Crystal Stilts member Kyle Forester.

Darlene Love @ BB King’s
Darlene Love — who sang “White Christmas,” “Marshmallow World,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home”) on A Christmas Gift For You — continues her  three-night holiday run at BB King’s.

Justin Vivian Bond: Manger Danger! Jesus as a Weapon and a Tool @ Joe’s Pub
Justin Vivian Bond’s unique Christmas show continues its run at Joe’s Pub. What is this show all about? We’ll let Justin do the talking: “I think I’m in LOVE with JESUS but it’s difficult because a lot of HIS FOLLOWERS totally HATE ME. (I know, the irony is not lost on me either) Anyway, I’m confused because I’m fully committed to bringing down the patriarchy but I’M TOTALLY CRUSHED OUT ON THE SON OF GOD! Please forgive me for co-opting your holiday to work it out publicly in my new show ‘Manger Danger! Jesus as a Weapon and a Tool.’”

Springsteen on Broadway
The Boss is currently in the midst of his completely sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which has now been extended through June! At these shows, Bruce plans to give fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.” This is a pretty standard show but maybe he’ll throw in a holiday song?

Bebel Gilberto @ City Winery
The daughter of bossanova great João Gilberto, Bebel is a star in her own right.

Alan Cumming @ Joe’s Pub
Actor Alan Cumming, who has his own club these days, stops by Joe’s Pub to “Sing Sappy Songs.”
