You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Tyvek, Straw Pipes, Writhing Squares @ Elsewhere
Detroit’s Tyvek forged a arty garage-punk sound that, along with their defiantly independent attitude, has influenced countless bands in the ’00s from Parquet Courts to Protomartyr, and “Wayne County Roads” is one of the great Michigan anthems. UPDATE: “Due to the snow storm, tonight’s event with Tyvek, Straw Pipes, Writhing Squares [1/5] has been postponed to 3/24.”

Granny Takes Another Trip: A Benefit for Genesis Breyer P-Orridge w/ Bambara, Grim Streaker, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Infra-men, Sodium Beast @ Sunnyvale
As you may know, post-punk icon Genesis Breyer P-Orridge has been battling cancer and proceeds from tonight’s show will go to costs for treatment.

Patrick Higgins, Josh Modney, Miho Hatori, Mariel Roberts @ H0L0
Patrick Higgins and Josh Modney celebrate the release of their experimental, collaborative album ‘EVRLY MVSIC’ (out via NNA Tapes), with opening sets of new works from Cibo Matto’s Miho Hatori and mroe.

Courtship Ritual, Keep, True Body, Safe Hex @ The Gutter
Brooklyn duo Courtship Ritual make dark, slinky pop that recalls early ’80s postpunk. They play tonight with two gothy, shoegazy bands from Virginia, Keep and True Body.

Because Jewish Presents: The Friday Night Jam–Conversation with Sinkane, A Spiritual Meditation On Music And More, Led By Rabbi Dan Ain and Relix’s Mike Greenhaus @ Rockwood Music Hall
The listing pretty much says it all: Sinkane, who released the great, funky Life and Livin’ It last year, takes part in Because Jewish‘s recurring Friday Night Jam. Sinkane will also DJ afterwards.
