What's Going On... Is Going On Hold

For nearly as long as BrooklynVegan has existed, we’ve published a daily “What’s Going On?” post that rounds up the day’s notable shows and events in the NYC-area. But ever since the coronavirus got serious in mid-March, causing all NYC, NJ and CT venues — along with movie theaters, bars, restaurants and all other non-essential businesses — to close, there have been no shows to round up. (The rest of the country was not far behind.) Needless to say, it’s been very weird for us: not going to shows, not writing about them, and not looking at a particularly nuts day in NYC where there are 15 amazing options to choose from.

Despite that, we’ve continued to do “What’s Going On?” posts every day, perhaps out of habit, perhaps out of muscle memory, but we’ve decided to put WGO on hold for now. We are, however, doing a couple things in its place. We’re posting a daily round-up of the artist livestreams that are happening (and there are a lot of them), and we’re also posting great, full-concert videos every weekday. It’s not the same, but it’s what we’ve got.

“What’s Going On?” will be back as soon as shows are, which we hope will be as soon as it’s safe to do so. We are definitely looking forward to that.
