What’s going on Monday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...
Beastie Boys Book: Live & Direct with Ad-Rock and Mike D @ Town Hall
The new Beastie Boys Book is not your average memoir and this is not your average book tour, featuring “readings, a conversation between Mike D, Ad-Rock and a special guest moderator, plus a Q&A – all with a live score provided by Mix Master Mike.”
Minus the Bear, Caspian @ Irving Plaza
Minus the Bear are sadly calling it quits but they're going out with a bang. They've got a very solid final EP out now and their farewell tour concludes its two-night stand at NYC's Irving Plaza tonight. Post-rockers Caspian make this a great double bill.
Steely Dan @ Beacon Theatre
While this show is part of Steely Dan's nine-show Beacon Theatre run, this one focuses on Donald Fagen's solo album The Nightfly, plus a set of Dan favorites.
Nadia Reid, Lorkin O'Reilly @ Berlin
New Zealand indie folk singer Nadia Reid's Preservation was one of our favorite albums of 2017, and she followed it this year with the new song "The Other Side of the Wheel" which proves she has more magic up her sleeve. She's back in NYC tonight, and it's very worth seeing her.
Circa Survive, La Dispute, Queen of Jeans @ PlayStation Theater
Proggy post-hardcore vets Circa Survive headline this show and there's also some cool support. La Dispute just signed to Epitaph for their TBA fourth album (and first they've got a revamped 10th anniversary edition of their debut coming out on No Sleep), and indie rockers Queen of Jeans put out a promising debut on Topshelf this year.
We Were Promised Jetpacks, Hurry Up @ Brooklyn Steel
Scottish indie rockers We Were Promised Jetpacks are on the road supporting their new album The More I Sleep, The Less I Dream. They’re hitting Brooklyn tonight with solid support from Thermals offshoot Hurry Up.
Bass Drum of Death, Ruby @ Bowery Ballroom
Oxford, Mississippi’s Bass Drum of Death released new LP Just Business back in August.
Ilana Glazer @ Murmrr Theatre
You may remember that Broad City‘s Ilana Glazer hosted the four-part “Generator Series” in July where she interviewed activists and politicians “to see how they each serve us – the people.” She’s bringing the Generator Series back for four nights leading up to the midterm elections.
Butterboy Comedy @ Littlefield
Joe Firestone and Maeve Higgins host this edition of Butterboy which features guests Dan St. Germain (Comedy Central Half Hour, @Midnight), Sonia Denis (High Maintenance, After After Party), Nicole Calasich (Bocpodcast, Sf Sketchfest), Zach Sherwin (Epic Rap Battles Of History), Devon Walker (Comedy Central's Clusterfest), and Atheer Yacoub (Gotham Comedy Live).
