wild Up, Zola Jesus & William Brittelle @ Kaufman Center's Merkin Hall (Ecstatic Music Festival)
Ecstatic Music Festival, which brings together unique collaborations from pop/indie/etc artists and artists from the modern classica/avant-garde/etc world, begins today with a very appealing show from goth-pop great Zola Jesus and composer William Brittelle both playing collaborative sets with LA chamber orchestra wild Up. From the event description: "The program includes string arrangements of three Zola Jesus songs; 'Dido's Lament Revisited,' a re-imagining of 'Dido's Lament' by Henry Purcell from his opera 'Dido & Aeneas'; and the premiere of Brittelle's 'Alive in the Electric Snow Dream' - five vignettes about the apocalypse."

Winter Jazzfest
Tonight's Winter Jazzfest options include The Bad Plus, Terence Blanchard at Le Poisson Rouge; and Unfold Ordinary Mind, Ben Goldberg, Nels Cline and more at Nublu.

Butterboy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve @ Littlefield
All three Butterboy co-hosts are in town for this week's edition which includds guests Hari Kondabolu, Josh Sharp, Maria Heinegg, Jak Knight, Kenice Mobley and Mary Beth Barone.
