Echo & the Bunnymen (back in the day)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Echo & The Bunnymen @ Webster Hall
One of the quintessential UK alt bands of the ’80s, Echo & The Bunnymen have a suitcase full of moody, swoony classics, and with no new album to plug you can expect nothing but the hits.

Peaches, Cakes Da Killa @ Rough Trade
Montreal’s Peaches is a lot of things: outspoken, outrageous, button-pushing and never boring. She’ll play the much bigger Webster Hall tomorrow night. If you’re going to this sold-out show, do catch Cakes Da Killa — Peaches and Cakes are a delicious match.

Louis C.K. @ Madison Square Garden
Once an underground sensation, Louis CK has become one of the biggest comedians in America — by doing it his way. This is his second of three MSG shows.

Wolves in the Throne Room, Cloud Rat, Anicon @ Saint Vitus
“Atmospheric black metal” has really broken on a big level in the US this current decade, and Wolves in the Throne Room are one of the genre’s best bands. Tonight’s their second of three NYC shows this week.

Anais Mitchell @ Rockwood Music Hall
She may still be best known for collaborating with Justin Vernon, but Anais Mitchell’s catalog runs deep and is very rewarding. Tonight’s the second show of her Monday September residency at Rockwood Music Hall.

Paul Collins, Karla Rose @ Berlin
Former Nerves songwriter and power pop godfather Paul Collins helped pioneer a jangly sound that’s still being imitated today.

OCDPP, Willy Muse, Shaasta @ Alphaville
Featuring Cassie Ramone, OJ of Xray Eyeballs and Kristin Kontrol on drums, OCDPP tip their hat towards early ’80s LA punk.

Night Train w/ Seth Herzog @ Littlefield
Seth Herzog, who has his own weekly comedy show ‘Sweet,’ fills in for regular Night Train host Wyatt Cenac and welcomes guests Yamaneika Saunders, Gary Anderson, Sammy Obeid, Ashley Gavin and more.
