Justin Townes Earle, H.C. McEntire @ City Winery
Mount Moriah singer Heather McEntire just released her excellent solo debut as H.C. McEntire this past Friday, and now she’s playing two City Winery shows, opening for Justin Townes Earle. This is the first.
Kimbra, KING, Arc Iris @ Brooklyn Steel
Kimbra is releasing her new album Primal Heart this year (the release was pushed back from January to April), and before it comes out, she’s playing NYC and LA shows with R&B trio KING and art pop outfit Arc Iris.
Dead Boys (Ft. Cheetah Chrome & Johnny Blitz), New York Junk, Tall Juan @ Bowery Electric
Surviving Dead Boys members Cheetah Chrome & Johnny Blitz have been taking their former band’s music on tour since last year, when their classic debut album Young Loud and Snotty turned 40. This is their second of two consecutive Bowery Electric shows.
Anna Burch @ Rough Trade
Anna Burch used to play in Frontier Ruckus and Failed Flowers, and now she’s making music as a solo artist on Polyvinyl. Her debut album, Quit The Curse, comes out on February 2.
Long Neck, Bethlehem Steel, AllegrA, Great Wight @ Trans-Pecos
Long Neck is the current project of Lily Mastrodimos, who used to sing in Jawbreaker Reunion but started focusing on Long Neck around the time the actual Jawbreaker reunited. She just released her new album, Will This Do?, this past Friday on Tiny Engines.
Lena Hall @ Rockwood Music Hall
After playing Yitzhak in Broadway’s recent revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Lena Hall released an EP of songs from Hedwig as part of her ongoing covers EPs series. She plays Rockwood Music Hall tonight (sold out) and again in February.
Brown Titty Hour w/ Phoebe Robinson, Michelle Buteau @ Union Hall (two shows)
Pheobe Robinson (2 Dope Queens) and Michelle Buteau (Key & Peele) cohost this night of comedy and storytelling.
Butterboy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve @ Littlefield
This week’s Butterboy features sets from Barry Rothbart, Tiff Stevenson, Kendall Farrell, Kenice Mobley, and Gibran Saleem.
