Turnstile
Turnstile at When We Were Young 2017 (more by Romari Bonner)

What's Going on Saturday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Turnstile, Touche Amore, Culture Abuse, Razorbumps @ Warsaw
Turnstile have one of the best rock records of the year so far with the genre-defying hardcore of TIME & SPACE, and they’re supporting it on tour now with an incredible cast of openers. Direct support comes from the great Touche Amore, who followed their excellent 2016 album Stage Four with the ripping new single “Green” last month. Before that it’s Bay Area surf punks Culture Abuse, who have an anticipated debut album coming out on Epitaph this year. And opening is the Devo-inspired Razorbumps, who released the HELLRAZORS album on Pop Wig (run by members of Turnstile and Trapped Under Ice) last year.

Panda Bear, Geologist @ Brooklyn Steel
Animal Collective are touring their 2004 album Sung Tongs in full later this year, but first Panda Bear is touring on his own behind this year’s A Day With The Homies EP. His AnCo bandmate Geologist opens.

The Wonder Years, Tigers Jaw, Tiny Moving Parts, Worriers @ Playstation Theater
The Wonder Years’ excellent new album Sister Cities is the furthest departure from the band’s pop punk roots yet, with both their heaviest and their lightest sounds to date. They’re on tour now with awesome openers: jangly indie-punks Tigers Jaw, mathy post-hardcore band Tiny Moving Parts, and political pop punks Worriers.

Conversations With Nick Cave @ Murmrr Theatre
Nick Cave invites you to ask him anything at this event: ” The more frank and intimate the questions, the more interesting the evening will be. The audience can ask me anything and I’ll do my best to answer. I do have some things to say. I can always play some songs at the piano if it all goes horribly wrong. But, I don’t know, I’ve got a good feeling about this one.”

Princess Nokia, Blood Cultures, Goodroid @ Elsewhere
NYC rapper Princess Nokia has a high-energy live show that’s impossible to be bored during, and she brings that show to Elsewhere tonight and tomorrow, in conjunction with the Moniker Art Fair.

Obituary, Pallbearer, Skeletonwitch, Dust Bolt @ Gramercy Theatre
Death metal vets Obituary are on tour in continued support of their 2017 self-titled album, with support from modern-day doom greats Pallbearer, black metal-ish rockers Skeletonwitch, and Dust Bolt.

Haim, Lizzo @ Radio City Music Hall
The ever-popular Haim are touring behind last year’s Something To Tell You, with energetic rapper Lizzo opening. Tonight’s their second of two Radio City shows.

Yonatan Gat, Eastern Medicine Singers @ Le Poisson Rouge
Onetime Monotonix frontman Yonatan Gat kicks off his North American tour tonight with this release show for his new LP, Universalists. If you’ve never seen Yonatan live, he and his band play improvisational shows, often setting up on the floor and not the stage. It’s a little in your face… in a good way.

Forth Wanderers, Ó (fka eskimeaux), Trace Mountains @ Market Hotel
The Sub Pop-signed Forth Wanderers do justice to ’90s-style indie rock, and tonight they’re celebrating their first album for the label.

Springsteen on Broadway
The Boss continues his sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which has now been extended through December. At these shows, Bruce is giving fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.”

Richard Lloyd, Mighty Fine, The Robert Kennedy Assassination @ The Safari Room at El Cortez
NYC rock wouldn’t be the same without Television guitarist Richard Lloyd’s signature style. Here’s a chance to see him in an intimate setting.

Kyp Malone, Kerry Lacy @ Wonders of Nature
One of the few remaining TV on the Radio members to still call Brooklyn home, Kyp Malone stays busy with a handful of musical projects, but he plays solo tonight

Craig Wedren, Brian Bonz @ Rough Trade
Former Shudder To Think frontman Craig Wedren is also an active solo artist, and any chance to hear his unique pipes in person is a treat.

Emily Wells @ National Sawdust
Hip hop and indie rock inspired violinist Emily Wells hits Williamsburg’s National Sawdust tonight.

Max Richter’s ‘Sleep’ @ Spring Studios
Max Richter’s ambitious, somnambulistic eight-hour opus, Sleep, is a gorgeous work whether you’re awake or not. He’ll perform it tonight at this overnight, eight-hour “orchestral experience” brought to you by mattress makers Beautyrest (seriously).

New York Night Train’s Soul Clap & Dance Off, The Harlem Gospel Travelers, Eli Reed Meets The High + Mighty Brass Band @ Monty Hall
Jonathan Toubin brings his Soul Clap and Dance Off to Jersey City tonight for a slightly scaled down, but no less sweaty edition.

Cones, Lizzie Loveless @ Elsewhere Zone One
Lizzie Leiberson of TEEN just released a new solo single as Lizzie Loveless which

Brazilian Girls, High Waisted @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
NYC dance-rockers Brazilian Girls just released Let’s Make Love, their first album in a decade, and celebrate tonight.

Diane Cluck, Gyða @ Trans-Pecos
Diane Cluck has been at it for years, making a mix of anti-folk, psych-folk, and other similar types of music. She’s always worth seeing.

Tall Juan, Animal Show, Deaf Poets @ Trans-Pecos (late show)
Tall Juan begins his four-show Trans Pecos residency tonight.

David Cross @ Baby’s All Right
David Cross recently announced his big “Oh Come On” tour, but he’s still tweaking the show at a series of much more intimate Brooklyn dates.

Steve Martin, Martin Short @ Beacon Theatre
Legendary comedians (and two-thirds of The Three Amigos!) Steve Martin and Martin Short have been taking their longstanding rapport on the road for a musical comedy revue they jokingly call “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life.”
