With this year's What Chaos is Imaginary, Girlpool went from stripped down folk to a much bigger sound, incorporating synths, drum machines and shoegazy sounds. Tonight’s show is with dreampop act Hatchie who at times sounds a little like The Cocteau Twins.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival continues today and Saturday highlights include a 35th anniversary screening of This is Spinal Tap that includes a Q&A with stars/writers Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Rob Reiner.

Before Hot Chip's sold-out date at Elsewhere on Monday, they'll first stop by another Brooklyn venue, Good Room, to spin other people's' songs (and probably drop their new single too).
Loudon Wainwright III Presents "Surviving Twin" @ Sony Hall
Loudon Wainwright III brings his personal, unique solo show Surviving Twin to NYC's Sony Hall, which was documented in a 2018 Netflix special. The show is described as a "hybrid theatrical form consisting mainly of songs written by Loudon III, along with readings of magazine columns written by his late father, Loudon Jr., and photographs that span four generations of the Wainwright clan."
Ratboys, Groupie, Fire Is Motion @ Elsewhere Zone One
Having just opened for PUP at Brooklyn Steel last night, alt-country-ish punks Ratboys are sticking around NYC for this smaller headlining show. If you're going, it's worth showing up early for chamber pop-ish indie rockers Fire Is Motion too.
Pink Avalanche, Superblonde, LAPeCHE @ Gold Sounds Bar
Pink Avalanche, the Chicago trio fronted by prolific musician Che Arthur, head to Gold Sounds Bar for a matinee show behind their new album III, which dropped last week.

Gavin Rayna Russom @ National Sawdust
LCD Soundsystem's Gavin Rayna Russom heads to National Sawdust for a series of special residency shows, titled "PHYSICALITY: An Exploration of Embodiment in Three Remixes," in which "Russom will conjure up a set of short bursts of song, movement, film, and story-telling that capture the kaleidoscopic energy of the digital age."
Hailu Mergia, Chances With Wolves DJs @ Pioneer Works
Etheopian jazz musician Hailu Mergia plays this after party benefit for the 2019 Myth and Logic Village Fête. Tickets are $200 but includes open bar, and food trucks and benefits "Pioneer Works’ mission of building community through the arts and sciences."
Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Champagne Superchillin', Dougie Poole @ Rough Trade
Jaakko Eino Kalevi, the Finnish artist/producer (and sometimes tram-driver) just wrapped up a tour opening for Kero Kero Bonito and is stopping in NYC before heading home. Brooklynites Champagne Superchillin' have a name that sounds like they're an Oasis cover band but actually make slinky Francopop.
Desertfest: Windhand, Weedeater, Danava, The Skull, Electric Citizen, Steak, Mirror Queen, Worshipper, Tower @ The Well
Following a show at Saint Vitus last night, the first-ever NYC edition of stoner metal festival Desertfest now moves to The Well, and today’s lineup includes Richmond doom metallers Windhand, stoner metal vets Weedeater, and more.
Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore, Elisa Ambrogio @ Union Pool
Folk singer Meg Baird and harpist Mary Lattimore teamed up last year for the collaborative album Ghost Forests, which was pretty much the best of both worlds for fans of these two artists. Tonight, they'll bring those songs to life at Union Pool for a second night.
"Classic Deep Purple Live" Performed By Glenn Hughes @ Iridium
Glenn Hughes was one of the vocalists in Burn-era Deep Purple and his wail still sounds great today. If you're looking to hear that era of the band performed the way you remember it, this is one of your best bets.
