FKA twigs @ Park Avenue Armory
Shortly after releasing her first single in three years, Fka twigs makes her highly-anticipated return to NYC as part of this year’s Red Bull Music Academy Festival this weekend, which is sure to include elaborate dancing and spectacular outfits.

Erykah Badu, H.E.R. @ Barclays Center
Long-running neo-soul great Erykah Badu teams with recent R&B breakout H.E.R. for this massive co-headlining show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. It should be a cool night all around, and afterwards, Erykah DJs under her DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown guise at Analog BKNY.

Morrissey @ Lunt Fontanne Theatre
Moz wraps up his seven-show run at the Lunt-Fontanne tonight. He’s been surprisingly good at mixing up setlists and pulling out some surprises — what will he offer up for his Broadway curtain call?

Meat Puppets, Sumo Princess, Stephen Maglio @ Asbury Lanes
Meat Puppets are back with their original lineup of Curt & Cris Kirkwood and Derrick Bostrom (plus Curt’s son Elmo and new keyboardist Ron Stabinsky), and they’ve got a very good, folky new album called Dusty Notes out now. Their Northeast tour continues tonight in Asbury Park, their first of two NJ shows this month.

Lee Fields & The Expressions, !!! (chk chk chk), Holy Hive @ Brooklyn Steel
Storied soul singer Lee Fields celebrates the 50th anniversary of his debut single this year, and his new music is great too — he recently put out the very good album It Rains Love. Dance-punk staples !!! make for very strong direct support.

The Delfonics, The Intruders, Rolls Royce, The Persuaders @ Murmrr Theatre
Lee Fields isn’t your only chance to see classic soul in Brooklyn tonight. Murmrr Theatre hosts a full bill of it.

The Natvral, Little Hustle, Scam Avenue @ Coney Island Baby
The Pains of Being Pure At Heart’s principal songwriter Kip Berman is now keeping busy with his solo project The Natvral, whose debut LP is expected to drop sometime this year. Expect to hear some new material — and maybe a cover or two — tonight.

The Twilight Sad, Kathryn Joseph @ Elsewhere
Scottish post-punk greats The Twilight Sad hit Brooklyn’s Elsewhere tonight behind their very solid recent LP IT WON/T BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, with support from fellow Scottish musician and Rock Action labelmate Kathryn Joseph.

Night Beats, Native Sun, Ghost King @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
Pacific Northwest psych-garage group Night Beats most recent album, Myth of a Man, paired with producer Dan Auerbach, who brought out the band’s melodic, hooky side even further, making for their most immediate record to date.

World/Inferno Friendship Society @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
World Inferno Friendship Society have been mixing punk, folk, klezmer and other styles for nearly 25 years, and and are warming up for their Punk Rock Bowling show later this month with this hometown show.

Gavin Rayna Russom @ National Sawdust
LCD Soundsystem’s Gavin Rayna Russom heads to National Sawdust for a series of special residency shows, titled “PHYSICALITY: An Exploration of Embodiment in Three Remixes,” in which “Russom will conjure up a set of short bursts of song, movement, film, and story-telling that capture the kaleidoscopic energy of the digital age.”

Aurora Halal, UMFANG @ Nowadays
Brooklyn-based DJ/producer Aurora Halal has spent the last few years touring different clubs around the world, and she’ll return for this hometown show tonight at Nowadays.

Feeder, dube @ Rough Trade
While they never did a lot in the U.S., Welsh rock band Feeder scored a number of UK hits in the late-’90s and early-’00s, including “High,” “Buck Rogers,” “Seven Days in the Sun,” “Just a Day” and “Lost and Found.”

Defeater, Born Without Bones, One Step Closer, Kindling @ Saint Vitus
Having just released their new self-titled album on Epitaph, melodic hardcore greats Defeater come to Brooklyn to tear up Saint Vitus tonight. Openers are all solid too, so get there on time.

Eyehategod, Negative Approach, Sheer Terror, Fuck You Pay Me @ The Kingsland
The amazing triple bill of NOlA sludge vets Eyehategod, Detroit hardcore vets Negative Approach, and NYHC vets Sheer Terror hits Brooklyn tonight and tomorrow. This one’s also got Cleveland’s Fuck You Pay Me.

Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls, Murder By Death, Tim Barry @ The Paramount
Before Frank Turner begins his Boston run next week, he’ll be playing two NYC-area shows this weekend, starting with this Huntington, NY date with openers Murder By Death and Tim Barry.

David Sedaris @ Town Hall
Humorist and author David Sedaris will regale the crowd tonight with stories at his second of three “An Evening With” performances at Town Hall.

Mattiel @ Union Pool
Georgia musician Mattiel, whose brand of indie rock has a little twang and a lot of attitude, will be previewing song from her forthcoming album for ATO, Satis Factory, tonight.

King Missile, Dogbowl, Ray Brown @ Hank’s Brooklyn
Is it 1992? John S. Hall’s long-running group King Missile plays Hanks tonight, paired with pal, frequent collaborator and Shimmy Disc labelmate Dogbowl.

Field Medic, Another Michael, Squirrel Flower @ ALPHAVILLE
Indie folk artist Field Medic wraps up an East Coast tour leg behind this year’s fader into the dawn with a stop at Brooklyn’s Alphaville tonight, before heading to the West Coast later this month.
