Pride Island w/ Grace Jones, Teyana Taylor, Pabllo Vittar @ Pier 97
WorldPride, the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, is this weekend, and this year’s edition of Pride Island is part of the official festivities. Tonight’s show is headlined by the iconic Grace Jones, featuring additional appearances from Teyana Taylor, Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar, Afro-Latina pop artist Amara La Negra and a DJ set from Johnny Dynell.

Warped Tour Atlantic City
Warped Tour is no longer a touring festival but its celebrating its 25th anniversary with a few events this year, including this two-day fest in Atlantic City. This is day one, and today’s lineup is pretty stacked with the kind of bands who played the fest in its heyday like Bad Religion, Glassjaw, Less Than Jake, Save Ferris, Andrew WK, Simple Plan, The Aquabats and more.

Liz Phair, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Caroline Rose @ Prospect Park Bandshell
BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival continues tonight in Prospect Park, and this latest free show is an great double header featuring a pair of heavily-influential songwriters, Liz Phair and Ted Leo. Free!

Drive-By Truckers, Mike Cooley, Adam’s House Cat @ Brooklyn Bowl
Drive-By Truckers will bring their two-weekend run at Brooklyn Bowl to a close tonight, and this show’s pretty special. Openers tonight Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood’s pre-Drive-By Truckers band Adam’s House Cat, and it’s the first time the latter has played NYC since their sole lost album dropped last year.

LadyLand Festival w/ Gossip, Allie X, Mykki Blanco, Yves Tumor, more @ Brooklyn Mirage
UPDATE: The Gossip have had to cancel as Beth Ditto is ill. This unofficial WorldPride event continues at Brooklyn Mirage for a second night, and notably headliners The Gossip, who are playing their first US tour date since reuniting. The rest of the lineup looks pretty fun too, so it’s an appropriate way to celebrate.

Ladies of LCD Soundsystem Pride Party @ Good Room
Speaking of Pride-related events, LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang and Gavin Rayna Russom have been playing DJ shows together under the collective “Ladies of LCD Soundsystem” name for a while now, and they’ll be throwing a special Pride party tonight.

David Johansen and The Harry Smiths @ City Winery
New York Dolls frontman David Johansen’s last two solo LPs leaned towards the worlds of blues and folk, and were credited to both him and his “The Harry Smiths” backing band. He’ll reunite with them tonight at City Winery.

The Woggles, WYLDLIFE, Muck and the Mires @ Coney Island Baby
Athens, Georgia’s Woggles have been reviving garage rock for over 30 years and doing it better than most.

Phony Ppl, Huck @ Mercury Lounge
Genre-defying hip hop/neo-soul/etc band Phony Ppl are currently on their first-ever headlining tour, supporting last year’s great mō’zā-ik. The group kicks off a two-night run at Mercury Lounge tonight, supported by fellow Brooklyn act Huck.

Los Espookys Live @ Murmrr Theatre
Fred Armisen, Julio Torres and Ana Fabrega are bringing their delightful new HBO series Los Espookys to Murmrr tonight…what tonight’s live show entails is anyone’s guess.

Show Me The Body, Jesus Piece, Blu Anxxiety, Slauson Malone, She Marly Marl, Noble Spell @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
NYC punks Show Me The Body know how to put a new twist on old sounds, and they have a reputation for putting on wild, energetic live shows. This hometown gig in support of their latest LP Dog Whistle should be no different.

Talib Kweli (DJ set) @ Brooklyn Bowl
Brooklyn rap vet Talib Kweli frequents Brooklyn Bowl as both a live act and a DJ, and he returns as the latter tonight.

Witch Taint, Eternal Black @ Saint Vitus Bar
Witch Taint, “the most extremely extreme Norwegian black metal band from Indiana ever basically and you can ask anyone,” are playing their 2nd-ever full band show tonight and features guest appearances from both Mike Hickey from Venom AND Ross the Boss from Manowar who’ll join them for some guitar solos.

John Early, Yazan and the Gates Family Band, Theda Hammel, Vicky with a V @ The Bell House
A gifted comedian with a great eye for character, you may know John Early from Search Party, High Maintenance, or his short films with Kate Berlant. Tonight he’s doing his last of three special Pride Week nights this week, backed by a full band.

Ice Balloons, Greta, VPL @ The Broadway
Ice Balloons, which is led by Kyp of TV on the Radio, plus members of Surfbort, Samiam, and Midnight Masses, let their freak flag fly live and are known for wild antics at their shows.

The Origin Of Love: The Songs And Stories Of Hedwig @ Town Hall
Part of WorldPride, John Cameron Mitchell and Steven Trask present this cabaret-style show that includes songs and shares stories from his much-loved musical Hedwig & The Angry Inch which continues to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
