What’s going on Saturday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...
Warhorse, Yatra, Green Dragon @ Saint Vitus
Worcester, MA doom band Warhorse reunited last year to play their first show since 2005 at Maryland Doom Fest, and slowly but surely, they’ve kept the reunion going. They blew us away a couple of months later at Psycho Las Vegas, and now we're thrilled to present their first NYC show since reuniting. Opening are two fellow doom bands, Maryland’s Yatra (who released a new album yesterday) and NJ’s Green Dragon.
Machine Head @ Webster Hall
After departing Vio-lence (who are now reunited) in the early '90s, Rob Flynn formed Machine Head and he released their groove/thrash debut Burn My Eyes in 1994. In honor of that album's 25th anniversary, they're performing it tonight.
Drive-By Truckers (acoustic) @ Rough Trade
Celebrating the release of Drive-By Truckers' new album The Unravelling, members Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley will talk with music journalist David Fricke about the record, and play a few acoustic numbers. 2 PM, sold out.
Oneida, Knyfe Hytes, Ornament @ Rubulad
One of Brooklyn's longest-running experimental indie rock bands, Oneida play DIY spot Rubulad with projected visuals by Robot Deth Cult.
Kaiju Big Battel @ The Bell House
Kaiju Big Battel combines pro wrestling with Japanese giant monster movies into one spectacular spectator sport.
You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
