What's going on Saturday?

wilco-10
Wilco @ Kings Theatre, 2016 (more by PSquared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Wilco, Joan Shelley @ Beacon Theater
Still touring off of last year’s very enjoyable Shmilco, Wilco begin their four-show run at Beacon Theatre tonight.

Jens Lekman, Lisa/Liza @ Bowery Ballroom
Jens Lekman’s first album in five years, Life Will See You Now, which finds in him fine, charming form. He’s on his first full-band tour in forever and this is his first of two NYC shows.

Ezra Furman, Monograms @ Rough Trade
Ezra Furman’s music can be bare-nerve emotional, sad, optimistic, funny and cathartic — often within one song. All of this comes to dynamic life at Ezra’s concerts which sometimes play out like a one-person show. Festivals

Jem Cohen (Gravity Hill Sound + Image), Guy Picciotto, Jim White, George Xylouris @ Issue Project Room
“Filmmaker/photographer Jem Cohen established Gravity Hill Sound + Image in 2014 as a forum for exploring film with live soundtracks. With guitarist Guy Picciotto, drummer Jim White, master lute player George Xylouris, and Cohen mixing audio from the films, shows were presented in Portugal, Turkey, and France. Reconvening for the first time since 2015, the ensemble will experiment at ISSUE with new films and a more improvisational approach.”

Breakdown, Red Death, Manipulate, Krimewatch, Ache @ Saint Vitus Bar
NYHC vets Breakdown are one of the many bands playing the Dave Franklin tribute in Asbury Park on April 2, but first, they’ll headline this Brooklyn show tonight.

Paul Collins, The Dazies, Vamanos, Mala Vista @ The Footlight
With his bands The Nerves and The Beat, Paul Collins is one of powerpop’s founding fathers.
