What's going on Saturday?

UK Subs
UK Subs

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

UK Subs @ Berlin
British punk legends U.K. Subs, still fronted by Charlie Harper (the sole original member), have been going strong since the ’70s and released a new album as recently as last year (Ziezo). This weekend they play three NYC shows. This is the first.

Oathbreaker, Sannhet, Jaye Jayle @ The Studio at Webster Hall
Last year, Oathbreaker released the great Rheia, one of the best black metal/screamo/post-rock blends this side of Sunbather. Now they’re on tour in support of it, and they hit NYC tonight with two great openers: Jaye Jayle (aka Young Widows singer Evan Patterson) and heavy post-rock band Sannhet.

LCD Soundsystem @ Brooklyn Steel
This is the third of LCD Soundsystem’s five-show Brooklyn Steel opening run. Expect favorites and a few new songs and for the band to go on around 9:30 PM.

Son Volt, Anders Parker @ Rough Trade
Jay Farrar has been leading Son Volt for more than 20 years . The band just relaesed Notes of Blue, which, as the title suggests, is inspired by the blues, but “not the standard blues as most know it.”

Peter Silberman (of The Antlers), Tim Mislock @ The Park Church Co-Op
The last Antlers album, 2014’s Familiars, was the most hushed, bare-bones thing they ever did. Frontman Peter Silberman’s new solo album is even more minimal. Tonight’s his first hometown show since its release, with frequent collaborator (and member of Hedwig‘s Broadway band) Tim Mislock opening.

The Budos Band, Paul and the Tall Trees @ Brooklyn Bowl
Instrumental Daptone Records band The Budos Band touch on everything from Afrobeat to heavy metal. Tonight they wrap up a two-night stand at Brooklyn Bowl.

Caveman, Alex Cameron, Concrete Conrete, TIAN, Reonda, Underblue, Sarah McGowen, Noise Era, DJ Ronin, DJ 1Na-B @ Brooklyn Bazaar (Tail Play Festival)
Tonight’s the Tail Play Festival at Brooklyn Bazaar, which has NYC indie regulars Caveman, Australian crooner (and hilarious stage banter-er) Alex Cameron, and more.

Kneebody, Mark Guillana’s Beat Music @ Le Poisson Rouge
Jazz band Kneebody often do very cool collaborations with non-jazz artists (like Daedelus and Kimbra), but tonight they’re doing their own thing which is also worth catching.

Howe Gelb, Mark Eitzel @ Monty Hall
Mark Eitzel is a master storyteller and scene-setter, and his new album Hey Mr. Ferryman is a bigger sounding record than we’ve heard from him in a while, thanks in part to former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler in production and instrumentation roles. Tonight’s show is with Giant Sand’s Howie Gelb.

Marc Ribot, Sofia Rei, Chelsea Reject, Kill Alters @ Union Pool
Guitarist Marc Ribot has collaborated with everyone from John Zorn to Tom Waits and Elvis Costello. He headlines this benefit forBrooklyn Defense Committee, “a community-based group working to build a network of sanctuary spaces in Brooklyn, especially in neighborhoods with high concentration of immigrants. BDC needs your support to continue their crucial work.”

Las Rosas, Saint Pe, Roya, Breanna Barbara @ Baby’s All Right
Brooklyn psych-pop garage act Las Rosas celebrate the release of their debut album, Everyone Gets Exactly What They Want, tonight. It’s a great lineup all around.

NYC Podfest
Many of your favorite podcasts are in NYC this weekend and today at The Bell House it’s Hold On with Eugene Mirman, Kevin McDonald’s Kevin McDonald Show and more.
