What's Going on Saturday?

Belle & Sebastian @ Radio City Music Hall 2015 (more by Amanda Hatfield)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Panorama @ Randall’s Island
The second day of Panorama fest features Tame Impala, Alt-J, Nick MurphyNicolas Jaar, Belle & Sebastian, Vince Staples, Mitski, S U R V I V E, Pinegrove, Noname, Bleached, and lots more.

Kučka, HDLSS, Qualiatik @ Baby’s All Right
Austrian electronic pop artist Kučka has worked with A$AP Rocky, Flume, Vince Staples, Fetty Wap and others, and her own music is quite enjoyable as well (it’s in the Purity Ring/AlunaGeorge realm). TOnight’s her first-ever headlining show in NYC.

A Place to Bury Strangers, Moor Mother, Uniform, and Author & Punisher @ Pioneer Works
“Grand Ole Opera” is a unique “performative exhibition” with live music, and this is the final show in the series. The Body were supposed to headline this one, but they were replaced by shoegazers A Place to Bury Strangers. The lineup also includes experimental rapper Moor Mother, noisecore duo Uniform, and one-man industrial band Author & Punisher.

Priests, Future Punx, Groupie @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Priests truly came into their own this year with the confident, terrific Nothing Feels Natural. They are terrific live.

Eagles, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers @ Citi Field (Classic East)
Having already done this on the West Coast the two-day “Classic” fest comes to NYC and on this first day you’ve got three titans of ’70s mellow.

Rumer, Dionne Warwick @ Lincoln Center/Damrosch Park Bandshell
Very much in the tradition of Dusty Springfield and Karen Carpenter, Rumer will be playing a selection of Burt Bacharach and Hal David tunes, and adding some real legitimacy is Dionne Warwick who had hits with many of their songs. This is part of the free Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, so stop on by.

The Spinto Band, Chris Cubeta, Shapes in Calgary @ Rough Trade
Delaware indie pop outfit The Spinto Band just reissued their charming debut album, Nice and Nicely Done, and celebrate its rerelease tonight.

Preoccupations @ Rough Trade
Finally starting to outpace thei “fka Viet Cong” tag, Canadian post-punks Preoccupations put on a tense, energetic live show. This is one of the official Panorama aftershows.

Gin Blossoms, Fuel, Marcy Playground, Dishwalla, Alien Ant Farm @ Stone Pony
Holy ’90s! This lineup is better than driving around this town and letting the cops chase you around, but maybe not better than sex and candy.

The Rubinoos, Baby Shakes @ Union Pool
Power pup cult legends The Rubinoos put out two terrific albums in the late ’70s (on the Beserkely label), performed the theme song to Revenge of the Nerds (and sued Avril Lavigne for her song “Girlfriend”‘s similarities to their “I Wanna Be Your Boyfiend” [they settled out of court]). Catch them for free as part of Summer Thunder afternoon series. 2 PM start.

Garrett Klahn, Jeff Cauill, Drive ‘Til Morning @ Goldsounds
Goldsounds hosts a nice double header of post-hardcore frontmen in solo mode, Texas is the Reason’s Garrett Klahn and Gameface’s Jeff Caudill.

Richard Colburn and Chris Geddes (of Belle & Sebastian — DJ set) @ Knitting Factory
Having played Panorama earlier in the day, Belle & Sebastian’s Richard Colburn and Chris Geddes DJ at Knitting Factory starting at midnight.
