Godspeed You! Black Emperor @ House of Independents
Since reuniting in 2010, post-rock greats Godspeed You! Black Emperor now have as many reunion albums as they had during their initial run as a band (the latest being last year’s Luciferian Towers), and the new albums often rival the classics. They’re still a towering live band too, as you can witness at a few NYC-area shows this week (this being the last).

Margo Price, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real (Lincoln Center Out of Doors / Americana Fest) @ Damrosch Park Bandshell
This is the second day of the two-day Americana Fest happening as part of the free Lincoln Center Out of Doors. This one’s headlined by alt-country great Margo Price, whose show is sure to be an awesome time.

Tough Shits, Jonathan Toubin (DJ) @ Our Wicked Lady
This week’s edition of Jonathan Toubin’s “Soul Scream” party features a live performance by Philly’s Tough Shits, plus more all on OWL’s roof.

Trevor Noah @ Pier 17
If you only know Trevor Noah from The Daily Show, he’s a great standup and storyteller too.

Playboi Carti, Sheck Wes, Peso, LB @ Terminal 5
Playboi Carti continues to get more and more massive after releasing this year’s Die Lit to much acclaim. Tonight’s show has direct support from recent G.O.O.D. Music signee Sheck Wes.

Jeff Beck, Paul Rodgers, Ann Wilson @ PNC Bank Arts Center
This is the “Stars Align Tour” features a trio of classic rock heavyweights.

This Is Hell @ Amityville Music Hall
Long Island melodic hardcore crushers This Is Hell played their first show in five years at Wild Fest yesterday, and tonight they play their hometown again. This time it’s a headlining show and they’re playing their 2006 debut Sundowning in full.

The Macaulay Culkin Show 5th Annual Summer Comedy Fest
Brett Davis and Sally Burtnick (of MNN’s The Special Without Brett Davis) have hosted this show since 2013 without a single appearance from its namesake, but that hasn’t stopped them from growing their show into a veritable Who’s Who of indie comedy each year, even after their old venue (Shea Stadium, RIP) closed its doors. This year’s is held at Ridgewood’s H0l0, and promises to be bigger than ever, with appearances from Dave Hill, SNL’s Gary Richardson, Conner O’Malley, The Chris Gethard Show’s J.D. Amato, as well as up and coming standups like Ayo Edebiri, Clare O’Kane, and plenty more.
