Made in America 2018 - Sunday
Pusha T at Made In America 2018 (more by Chelsea Pineda)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Pusha T, Phony Ppl @ Irving Plaza
Pusha T’s been one of the greats for a while, but 2018 has been the most monumental year for his career in a while thanks to the release of DAYTONA, one of the year’s best and most loved rap albums. He’s on tour now with genre-defying band Phony Ppl, who blend hip hop, soul, jazz, funk, rock, and more, and who released the very good mozaik this year. They play Irving Plaza tonight, and again on Monday.

Michael Shannon (playing R.E.M.’s Fables of Reconstruction), Annie Nero, Ray Rizzo, Michael Arthur @ Joe’s Pub
Intense actor Michael Shannon is a big indie rock fan who fronts his own band, Corporal. Tonight he pays tribute to R.E.M.’s third album, playing it in full with help from Annie Nero (Yellowbirds, Craig Finn), Ray Rizzo (Josh Ritter, Bob Weir, Motherlodge), Michael Quoma (Dog Adrift, Balthrop Alabama), Rob Heath, Hillary Hawke and a few surprise guests. Artist Michael Arthur will do a live painting during the performance.

Jarboe, Moor Mother, Father Murphy @ Market Hotel
Former Swans member and prolific solo artist and collaborator Jarboe will release new album, The Cut of the Warrior, in December and tonight’s the kickoff for her tour with post-industrial act Father Murphy. It’s also her first U.S. show in years, and having Moor Mother on the bill as well makes for a very special night.

Iceage, Show Me The Body, Public Practice @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Danish punks Iceage released their ambitious Beyondless earlier this year and have been touring relentlessly since. They just wrapped up dates with Black Lips and this is their first of two Brooklyn Shows this week (they play Elsewhere with A Place to Bury Strangers on 11/27).

Jean-Michel Blais @ National Sawdust
Montreal artist Jean-Michel Blais released Dans ma main early this year, a gorgeous album of minimal piano compositions with electronic flourishes, which also made this year’s Polaris Prize shortlist.

H.E.R., Bri Steves, Tone Stith @ Brooklyn Steel
It’s been a busy year for fast-rising R&B singer H.E.R., who released the electronic/hip hop-leaning I Used To Love Her: THe Prelude EP in August and the more ballad-heavy, earthier I Used to Know Her: Part 2 EP this month.

A triple indie pop bill, headlined by Australian expats Part Time, with Pale Lights (ft. former Comet Gain member Phil Sutton) and Knight School/The Hairs’ Kevin Hairs.

Doug Loves Movies @ Gramercy Theatre
Doug Benson’s popular podcast gets in the holiday spirit with two nights of “12 Guests of Xmas” shows.
Shilpa Ray, No Ice, Painted Zeros, Crazy Pills, Joanna Sternberg @ Mercury Lounge
Shilpa Ray heads up this show that benefits SAVI, the Mt. Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention program.
