What's going on Sunday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
Foals, Preoccupations, Omni @ Brooklyn Steel
Swinging from jerky post-punk to sweeping anthems (and sometimes swinging from the rafters), Foals have a busy year with two albums due, the first of which is out now. If you like their jerky post-punk side, you’ll definitely want to get there early for both openers: Canadian band Preoccupations and Atlanta trio Omni. Tonight, they conclude their three-night run at Brooklyn Steel.
Peelander-Z, Me Like Bees @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
Japanese manga rockers Peelander-Z are currently in the midst of a spring US tour, and their unique, colorful live shows are certainly not ones to miss.
Lil Bub’s Big Show: Fred Armisen, Kelley Deal, Steve Albini, Blasko @ Paramount Theatre
Part of Asbury Park, NJ’s “Catsbury Park” convention, it’s an indie-rock centric live edition of Lil Bub’s Big Show. Steve Albini and cats, what more do you need?
Less Than Jake @ Rocks Off Concert Cruises
Gainesville ska-punk vets Less Than Jake are coming to NYC to board two Rocks Off Cruises this weekend, this being the second. Yesterday’s was 90’s-themed, and today’s has an Easter egg hunt.
Soundtrack of America: Eryn Allen Kane, Keyon Harrold, Moses Sumney, Phony Ppl, Tamar Kali @ The Shed
Newly-opened Manhattan multi-arts center The Shed continues its “Soundtrack of America” program tonight, described as “a five-night concert series celebrating the influence of African American music with a new generation of groundbreaking artists.” Tonight’s show features a stacked lineup, most notably including art pop singer Moses Sumney, and genre-defying group Phony Ppl.
Dave Davies @ The Space at Westbury Theater
We’re still holding out just a little hope that he and his brother Ray will patch things up, but in the meantime The Kinks’ Dave Davies plays this solo show tonight.
Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere
It’s back! Winter has come.
