What's going on Sunday?

the-menzingers-11
The Menzingers @ Webster Hall (more by Amanda Hatfield)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

The Menzingers, Jeff Rosenstock, Rozwell Kid @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Heartland punks The Menzingers returned this year with their latest album, After the Party, and this is their second of two sold-out NYC shows in support of it. Both are with cult punk figure Jeff Rosenstock and the Thin Lizzy/Weezer-ish Rozwell Kid. The Menzingers will be back for a NYC cruise in June.

Selector Dub Narcotic (Calvin Johnson), This Saxophone Kills Fascists, Larkin Grimm @ Babycastles
Beat Happening frontman and K Recs domo Calvin Johnson plays under his Selector Dub Narcotic guise, where he mixes dancehall, soul, punk, garage, R&B, rock steady, bubblegum and rockabilly into a sound distinctly his own. His distinctive baritone ties it all together.

Stevie Nicks, Pretenders @ Prudential Center
The formidable double bill of Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders returns to the NY-area tonight. Let’s hope Stevie still has Chrissie Hynde coming out for “Stop Dragging My Heart Around.”

“Doing It For Dave: A Tribute To Dave Franklin” @ Convention Hall (Asbury Park)
Dave Franklin of NJHC band Vision sadly passed away this year, and a whole bunch of his talented pals are coming together to pay tribute to him tonight. There’s a Vision set with guest vocalists, plus H2O, Killing Time, Breakdown, Burn, Sheer Terror, Leeway, Maximum Penalty, Murphy’s Law, Shades Apart, Bold, SUpertouch, Floorpunch, Dave Smalley performing Dag Nasty and Down By Law, a set by members of Bouncing Souls and Lifetime, and still more.

Simon Doom, Annie Hart, Drug Couple @ Union Pool
This is an afternoon matinee featuring Simon Doom (MGMT, Amazing Baby), and Annie Hart (Au Revoir Simone). 2 PM.

For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.
