You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Governors Ball
NYC music festival Governors Ball wraps up its seventh year today on Randall’s Island, with headliners Tool, who are in the midst of something of a comeback tour and whose recent live shows are quite the spectacle (don’t miss ’em!). Before Tool, it’s French electronic pop greats Air, sample-crazy heroes The Avalanche, Franz Ferdinand, Mac DeMarco, Warpaint, Skepta, Parquet Courts, Zane Lowe, and more.

The Weeknd, Rae Sremmurd, Belly, 6LACK @ Prudential Center
The Weeknd is currently on a massive world tour in support of last year’s hits-filled Starboy. He’s joined by even more hitmakers, Rae Sremmurd, plus Canadian rapper Belly (not to be confused with the rock band), and Atlanta R&B newcomer 6LACK. This is his second of four NYC-area shows this week.

The Orbiting Human Circus featuring The Music Tapes @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Neutral Milk Hotel member Julian Koster’s band The Music Tapes are on yet another of their unique tours. Here’s the synopsis for this one: “Both an immersive theatrical experience and a musical show, this evening commemorates the release of The Orbiting Human Circus (of the Air), a fictional narrative podcast created by Julian Koster (Neutral Milk Hotel) and presented by the creators of Welcome to Night Vale (one of the most downloaded podcasts of all time). Spend an evening with the show’s lead character, the hapless Janitor of the Eiffel Tower—played by Koster—who will attempt, and fail, to clean this very venue, as surreal events, songs (by the Music Tapes), and magic simply happen all around him (and you).”

The Red Aunts @ Union Pool (two shows)
Long Beach riot grrrls The Red Aunts were around in the ’90s with albums on Epitaph and Sympathy for the Record Industry, and last year they reunited for their first show since 1998, an appearance at In The Red Records’ 25th anniversary party in LA. Now they’e in NYC for two shows: a 2 PM show with Foster Care and Cyclone Static, and an 8 PM show with Tammy Hart’s new band Teen Vice and Las Hormaguitas.

Chocolat, Chorizo, Sam Kogon @ Berlin
Chocolat and chorizo are a pretty delicious combo: in this case it’s Montreal’s hard-to-pigeonhole kraut-psych wonders Chocolat, and the new band from OJ of Xray Eyeballs. Baroque pop revivalist Sam Kogon opens.

Diane Cluck @ Joe’s Pub
Avant-folk singer Diane Cluck has been at it for close to two decades now, having last released the very good Boneset in 2014. Her live shows are always very special.

Acid Witch, Chain, Devil Master @ Saint Vitus
Acid Witch have a new album on the way, and they say they’re playing some new stuff from it on this tour. Catch them tonight to get a sneak peek.

Sir the Baptist, The Head and the Heart @ The Surf Lodge (free)
It’s another weekend of free concerts at Montauk’s Surf Lodge, with R&B singer Sir the Baptist and indie folk band The Head and the Heart.
