You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Dead & Company @ MSG
Grateful Dead offshoot Dead & Company includes classic-lineup members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann (plus John Mayer and others), and they’re always known for sticking to the fan favorites at their shows. They play MSG tonight and Tuesday.

The Mountain Goats, Mothers @ Brooklyn Steel
The Mountain Goats are having a very busy year, with their great new album Goths, a new Ozzy Osbourne-themed EP, an upcoming tribute album to the band, and frontman John Darnielle’s new novel Universal Harvester. If you’re going, don’t miss openers Mothers.

Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt @ Beacon Theatre
Two iconoclast Texas singer-songwriters will strip their songs down to just acoustic guitar for what will surely be a memorable night.

Jake Shears (of Scissor Sisters) @ Elsewhere
Scissor Sisters are in cold-storage but main man Jake Shears has come out of a eight-year hibernation, releasing a very scissor-y solo single with promise of an album in 2018. Catch him back on the live stage tonight.

Goblin, Morricone Youth @ Irving Plaza
Fans of classic Italian soundtrack music — tonight’s a good night. The current lineup of Goblin (Massimo Morante, Maurizio Guarini, Fabio Pignatelli, and Agostino Marangolo, all of whom played on Suspiria) play with Brooklyn’s Morricone Youth who clearly draw inspiration from the original mastesrs.

Pere Ubu, Minibeast @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Forty years and still going strong, David Thomas’ Pere Ubu just released the very good 20 Years In A Montana Missile Silo. The current five-piece, three-guitar lineup of the band hits MHOW tonight.

Slowdive, Cherry Glazerr @ Terminal 5
Shoegaze greats Slowdive came back from a 20 year absence and have gone on to play the biggest shows of their career but also made this year’s fantastic self-titled album that is among the best work they’ve done. If you’re going tonight, do catch Cherry Glazerr whose album Apocalipstic is a lot of fun.

Cherry Glazerr, Thick, Dances @ Sunnyvale
Right after opening for Slowdive, Cherry Glazerr (who can sell out places like Bowery Ballroom) will race over to Sunnyvale for this late headline show.

Kelela, Lafawndah @ Bowery Ballroom
After a very good mixtape, EP, and several notable guest appearances, R&B boundary pusher Kelela finally released her debut album, Take Me Apart, and it was worth the wait. She plays Bowery Ballroom tonight and tomorrow with her Warp labelmate Lafawndah, which is a great and well-matched opener.

Cupcakke, Latasha Alcindor, Precolumbian (DJ Set) @ (le) poisson rouge
Raunchy rapper CupcakKe always puts on a fun show, and this one’s for a very good cause. Proceeds go to Planned Parenthood.

Avi Buffalo, Lady the Beard, Ragamuffin @ Our Wicked Lady
While Avi Zahner-Isenberg “broke up” Avi Buffalo in 2015, he is now using the name again. Go find out what he’s up to, tonight.

New York Comedy Festival
The 2017 NYCF wraps up tonight at venues all over the city.

Ice Balloons, Benni, Aquarian Blood @ Union Pool
When not playing in TV on the Radio, Kyp Malone gets his freak on with Ice Balloons.

The Strawbs @ BB Kings
British progressive folk band The Strawbs have been going strong since the ’60s and their shows are still worth catching.
