Thurston Moore presents New Noise Guitar Explorations (w/ James Sedwards & Steve Shelley), Ka Baird, Byron Coley @ Elsewhere Hall
Thurston Moore is currently playing "New Noise Guitar Explorations" shows that have him joined by his Sonic Youth bandmate Steve Shelley and Thurston Moore Group guitarist James Sedwards. At these shows, Thurston will "present new extended instrumental compositions focusing on the 12-string electric guitar focusing on noise, beauty, action, fire and love."

Ol' Dirty Bastard tribute w/ Wu-Tang Clan, Young Dirty Bastard @ Roulette
The late ODB would be turning 50 today, and to celebrate, his family is presenting this event which will include a performance by his former group the Wu-Tang Clan and his son Young Dirty Bastard.

Vetiver (solo), Fruit Bats (solo) @ Union Pool
Veteran indie folk acts Vetiver and Fruit Bats have teamed up for a tour where each band's frontman/main member will be playing a solo set (Andy Cabic and Eric D Johnson, respectively). Tonight's show is sold out.

The Mercury Program, Square Peg Round Hole @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Florida post-rockers The Mercury Program recently reissued their 2002 album A Data Learn The Language, and they're celebrating by playing the album in full on this tour.

6LACK, Summer Walker @ Terminal 5
Atlanta R&B singer 6LACK released his enjoyable new album East Atlanta Love Letter this year and he continues to massively rise. This is second of two big NYC shows on this tour.

Bas, Rexx Life Raj, Innanet James, Correy C @ Irving Plaza
J Cole affiliate is on the road supporting his new album Milky Way, and also of note is Inannet James, who released his funky new album Keep It Clean earlier this year. The bill is rounded out by Rexx Life Raj (who’s featured on Keep It Clean) and Correy C (who’s featured on Milky Way).

Richard Lloyd (of Television), Love Crushed Velvet, Smoky White Devils @ The Bowery Electric
As a founding member of NYC icons Television, guitarist Richard Lloyd's distinctive style has helped shape the sound of punk, alternative and indie rock in the 40+ years since.

Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer @ Town Hall
Banjo, bluegrass and jazz innovator Bela Fleck plays tonight as part of a trio with bass fiddle player Edgar Meyer and tabla master Zakir Hussain.

The Story So Far, Turnover, Citizen, Movements @ Playstation Theater
Popular pop punks The Story So Far headline this show, and if you’re going, we especially think it’s worth getting there on time for the post-hardcore/alt-rock-leaning Citizen and the dream pop-leaning Turnover.

Ellis, Yours Are the Only Ears, Thanks 4 Coming @ Alphaville
Canadian dream pop artist Ellis just released her debut EP The Fuzz, which isn't like nothing you've ever heard before, but her voice and songwriting talents make it feel fresh.

Gabby's World, Lexie, Emily Yacina @ Elsewhere Zone One
This is the release show for the new Gabby's World (fka Eskimeaux) album Beast on Beast, and it's an all-around good bill of bedroom pop with Lexie (ft. Frankie Cosmos' Greta Kline) and Emily Yacina.

Lizzo, Lion Babe @ Invisible Phone Repair
This free (with RSVP) show is part of the pop-up concert series promoting Verizon's new Visible Service, and it's got energetic rapper Lizzo and soul/R&B duo Lion Babe.

Y La Bamba, Balún @ Murmrr Ballroom
Portland's Y La Bamba recently released the powerful, sexism-battling anthem "Mujeres," and tonight their make their way to Brooklyn for a show with solid local support from Balún.

Shad, Youth Soul Love @ Knitting Factory
Canadian indie rapper is on the road supporting his new album A Short Story About War and he lands in Brooklyn tonight.

Rhyton, Jantar, Dead Painters, Luscious Skin @ The Footlight
Brooklyn psychedelic band have been tripping out listeners for the past seven years and they're sure to do just that tonight.

Springsteen on Broadway
The Boss continues his sold-out "Springsteen on Broadway" run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which runs through December. At these shows, Bruce is giving fans shows "that are as personal and as intimate as possible."
