Son Lux

What's going on Thursday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Son Lux @ The Appel Room
Son Lux, who released Brighter Wounds last year, play Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series tonight, bringing “an evening of warm reflections on love and loss and a thoughtful mixture of fear and optimism about our individual and shared futures.”

Irreversible Entanglements, Amina Claudine Myers, Nicole Mitchell @ Kaufman Center (Ecstatic Music Festival)
The Ecstatic Music Festival continues tonight, pairing instrumental quartet Irreversible Entanglements with pianist/vocalist/improviser Amina Claudine Myers and the composer/flutist Nicole Mitchell, including a new composition written just for this show.

Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, Param Anand Singh, Dan Friel @ ALPHAVILLE
Baltimore duo Ed Schrader’s Music Beat got a little synthier when neighbor Dan Deacon produced his most recent album but shows remain stripped down, fun and funny affairs.

JG Thirlwell Ensemble @ National Sawdust
Foetus founder JG Thirlwell will play classic from his catalogue and new songs he’s composed with Simon Hanes of Tredici Bacci and his ensemble tonight includes players on harp, viola, piano, acoustic guitar and voice.

The Brother Brothers, Dead Horses @ Le Poisson Rouge
The Brother Brothers sort of sound like a twangier Simon & Garfunkel, and they’re on tour now supporting last year’s debut album Some People I Know.

Chrome Sparks, Kalbells, Max @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Following years of EPs and singles, Brooklyn electronic musician Chrome Sparks released his self-titled debut album last year. He’ll get the dance floors moving in his hometown tonight.

Flogging Molly, Lucero @ The Wellmont Theater
Celtic punk vets Flogging Molly and country punk vets Lucero are on the road together, which is a very appealing double bill. No NYC show but the tour just hit Long Island now it’s in Montclair, NJ tonight.

Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Angel Du$t, guardin @ Market Hotel
Emo trap artist Wicca Phase Springs Eternal recently released his new album on Run For Cover, and he’s on tour now with punks-turned-jangle-posters Angel Du$t, whose anticipated new album Pretty Buff comes out on Roadrunner this March.

Talib Kweli (DJ) @ Brooklyn Bowl
Talib Kweli is on the 1s and 2s at Brooklyn Bowl tonight for “Black History Month jam celebrating the funkiest most uplifting songs from the canon of black music.”

Jeanines, The Doilies, No Stones @ The Windjammer
Janines, which is the duo of Alicia Jeanine and  My Teenage Stride’s Jed Smith, make superior indiepop and will release their debut album later this year via Slumberland.

Tonight is also the final night in business for Williamsburg bars Rosemary’s Greenpoint Tavern and The Abbey.
