What’s going on Thursday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...
Black Tusk, Natur, Belus @ The Acheron
The end of Bushwick venue Acheron is near, but on the bright side, they're going out with a bang.
Black Tusk, who released one of 2016's best sludge albums, headline this show. UPATE: Black Tusk got into an accident (they're ok!) and aren't able to play this show, but Natur and Belus are still on the bill.
Jerry Seinfeld @ Beacon Theater
What’s the deal with these shows? It’s Seinfeld’s monthly residency, that’s what. He’s been getting some cool people to open, too.
David Bazan, Laura Gibson @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Former Pedro the Lion frontman David Bazan is on the road in support of his new solo album Blanco, which has him heading in a synthy direction but keeping his trademark vocals the same. His Barsuk labelmate Laura Gibson, who released the very good Empire Builder this year, opens the show.
Big Business, Andy the Doorbum @ Mercury Lounge
Big Business offer up more of their catchy sludge on Command Your Weather, which is out this week. This is their second of two NYC shows in support of it.
Nite Jewel, Starchild and The New Romantic, Sasha Jan Rezzie @ Baby's All Right
It's a night of spacey R&B with Nite Jewel and the very talented Starchild.
Lion Babe @ Gramercy Theatre
NYC duo Lion Babe are still relatively new but already have high-profile collaborations with Disclosure and Pharrell. If you dig R&B, you may want to catch them.
World/Inferno Friendship Society, Culture Shock, Drunken Rampage @ Bowery Ballroom
World/Inferno Friendship Society have been mixing punk, klezmer, cabaret and more for two decades now. Tonight's the second night of their tour with anarcho ska-punks Culture Shock who just released their first album in 27 years.
Bok Bok, Girl Unit, Venus X, Rizzla @ Output
Night Slugs have a new compilation on the way, and tonight the dance/electronic label is throwing a party in NYC.
Red Baraat & guests @ Prospect Park Bandshell (Celebrate Brooklyn)
The free BRIC! Celebrate Brooklyn Festival shows in Prospect Park continue today wit Brooklyn brass band Red Baraat. They have a ton of guests joining them, including former Das Racist member Heems.
Yacht Rock Revival featuring Yacht Rock Revue and special guests @ Irving Plaza
You may remember the "Yacht Rock" videos from the late-'00s that made a fictional story (and violent rivalry) between '70s soft rock notables like Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, England Dan, and more. They're back with this tongue-in-cheek extravaganza of easy-to-swallow cheese.
