You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...

Machine Girl, Abby, .gif from god, LustSickPuppy, Versus (Channel 63 vs Sweet Zach vs Grooming vs Afterlife.Online) @ Saint Vitus
Machine Girl is the noise/industrial project of NYC musician Matthew Stephenson with drummer Sean Kelly, and they've got a chaotic sound that sounds like the middle ground between Godflesh, Squarepusher, and HEALTH, and they already have a reputation for putting on crazy live shows in NYC. They'll take their show on the road opening for Code Orange this year, but first they play a headlining hometown show tonight, which celebrates the release of their new album U-Void Synthesizer. Making the show doubly exciting, it also features Richmond sass/screamo/metalcore band .gif from god, whose 2019 sophomore album approximation_of_a_human (Prosthetic Records) was one of last year's most exciting breakthrough albums in heavy music. Rounding out the bill is local electronic musicians Abby and LustSickPuppy, and a set from noise musicians Channel 93 vs Sweet Zach vs Grooming vs Afterlife.Online under the name Versus (not to be confused with the indie rock band).

G Herbo, King Von, Lil Loaded, Shaun Sloan, Pretty Savage @ Brooklyn Steel
Chicago rapper G Herbo drops his new album PTSD on Friday, but first he stops by NYC for this show tonight.

Too Free @ Trans-Pecos
Too Free — the new-ish band of Big Freedia associate Awad Bilal, Merchandise frontman Carson Cox, and drummer Don Godwin (of Callers) — celebrate the release of their fun, danceable debut album, Love In High Demand.

Stonefield, Castle Rat @ Baby's All Right
Aussie psych band Stonefield are pals with the King Gizzard crew and have toured with them a few times. Their own sound falls somewhere between the Gizz (at their doomiest) and Tame Impala.

Ashley Brooke Roberts, Ilana Glazer, Alex English, Russ & Michael Stevens, Jo Firestone @ Union Hall
Comedian Ashley Brooke Roberts hosts this night themed around how to prepare for the apocalypse, with a bunch of great guests including Ilana Glazer, Alex English, Russ & Michael Stevens, and Jo Firestone.

Parlor Walls, Lutkie, Activity @ Union Pool
It's a night of taut post-punk as Parlor Walls celebrate the release of their new album, Heavy Tongue. Get there early for Activity, though, which features members of Grooms and Russian Baths.

Yuna @ Blue Note Jazz Club
Malaysian R&B/pop singer Yuna is back in NYC in support of last year's Rouge (which was produced mostly by Rhye's Robin Hannibal and features Tyler, the Creator, Little Simz, G-Eazy, and more). She's doing 8 and 10:30 PM shows at the Blue Note through Saturday.

You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
