What's going on Thursday?

Mew at Webster Hall, 2015 (more by Amanda Hatfield)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

A$AP Twelvyy @ Baby’s All Right
A$AP Twelvvy’s debut album, simply titled 12, is out Friday and features fellow A$AP Mob members A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ant, A$AP Nast, and A$AP Ferg, as well as Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies, Fredro Starr and more. Tonight’s the release show and “very special guests will be in the building.”

Mew, MONAKR @ Bowery Ballroom
Danish spacerockers Mew released the very good Visuals earlier this year and bring their widescreen approach to NYC tonight.

Dashboard Confessional, The All-American Rejects @ Central Park SummerStage
Having gone on an acoustic tour of intimate venues earlier this year, Dashboard Confessional will be back to full volume for this SummerStage show.

Descendents, Audacity @ House of Vans
Cali punk icons Descendents proved they’ve still got it with last year’s excellent Hypercaffium Spazzinate (their first new record in over a decade). This free House of Vans show (with comparatively new punks Audacity) will be a sweaty good time.

Melvins, Spotlights @ Irving Plaza
Melvins just released A Walk With Love And Death, which is a double album and encompasses both what you expect from the band (sludgy riffs) and what you might not (poppy punk, Summer of Love psych). With Redd Kross’ Steve McDonald on bass this time around, they play tonight with Brooklyn’s Spotlights (who are signed to Mike Patton’s label Ipecac).

Cory Henry (and The Funk Apostles) @ MetroTech Commons
It’s the penultimate show of the free BAM R&B Festival lunchtime series and this week it’s master of the Hammond B-3 organ, Cory Henry.

The Kominas @ MoMA
The Kominas bring a South Asian attitude to punk rock. This show is part of MoMA’s ‘Summer Thursdays’ concert series, which goes from 6:30-9 PM and are free with museum admission.

Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Nellie McKay @ Prospect Park Bandshell
Bela Fleck has been fusing bluegrass and serious jazz since the ’80s and brings his unique style to this free Prospect Park show, part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival. If you’re going, do get there in time to see the funny, charming, immensely talented Nellie McKay.

Dave Chappelle, The Roots, Big Boi, Usher @ Radio City Music Hall
It’s the third night of Dave Chappelle’s impressive 16-show Radio City run, and the third  of the first four nights which he’s dubbed Rootsapalooza. On the first night (which went for four hours), Chappelle opened the night with his standup set then turned it over to the music. Big Boi and Usher are officially on the bill

Robert DeLong, Baio, snny @ South Street Seaport
This is  “An Evening with Glassnote” — meaning Glassnote Records — featuring bands from their roster: snny, Baio (aka Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio), followed by headliner Robert DeLong. Free. 6 PM.

Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, No Ice, Thick @ Union Pool
Having a record a few years ago on Sub Pop, no nonsense southern rockers Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires just dropped double LP Youth Detention via Don Giovanni.

Poptone (members of Bauhaus / Love and Rockets) @ Stone Pony
Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins have been members of Bauhaus, Love and Rockets and Tones on Tail, and made some of the most distinctive post-punk/alt-rock of the ’80s and ’90s. With Haskin’s daughter Diva Dompe on bass, they’ll be pulling from their deep catalog tonight (though probably not so much songs that were sung by Peter Murphy or David J)..

070 Shake @ Webster Hall
There’s just about a week left of Webster Hall as we know it before it closes for renovations (and gets taken over by Bowery/AEG), and tonight in the Grand Ballroom is NJ rapper 070 Shake.

Darlene Love @ B.B. King Blues Club
The voice behind “He’s a Rebel” and much of the A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector album, Darlene Love is one of the iconic voices of the girl group era.

Sinkane (DJ) @ Brooklyn Bowl
Having played in Yeasayer and Caribou, Sinkane has been melding influence and demonstrating killer musicianship with his solo work for much of this decade, like on this year’s terrific Life & Livin’ It. He’s the guest DJ and Questlove’s popular Bowl Train Party tonight.
