Lollapalooza 2017 - Saturday
Chance the Rapper at Lollapalooza 2017 (more by Greg Noire)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Dave Chappelle, Chance The Rapper @ Radio City Music Hall
Dave Chappelle has been having very exciting guests (both announced and unannounced) at his 16-show Radio City run, and tonight is no different. Chance the Rapper, whose Coloring Book was one of the most universally loved rap albums of last year, is on the bill, and maybe more people will show up too.

Torres @ Dr. Martens Store – Union Square
Torres signed to 4AD for her upcoming album Three Futures (one of the albums we’re most anticipating at the moment), and going by the singles, this one covers very new ground for her. She’ll go on a proper tour later this year, but first plays this free Dr. Martens show tonight.

Myrkur @ Saint Vitus
Myrkur’s upcoming album for Relapse blends black metal, dream pop, and Scandinavian folk music in a way where it ends up never really fitting neatly into any of those genres. This is her second NYC show of the week and it’s sold out.

DIIV (unplugged) @ Murmrr Theatre
“An Evening with DIIV (Unplugged)” promises “new arrangements, covers, new music, maybe even some new clothes (but probably not).”

John Maus, Gary War @ WFMU Monty Hall
It’s been six years since cult artist John Maus released We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves. We have heard stirrings of a new record, but we do know this: he’s on the road playing with a full band. Both tonight’s show and and Friday’s show at Baby’s All Right are sold out which are ahead of his appearances at PS1 Warm-Up and Hudson’s Basilica Soundscape.

The Nude Party, Roya @ Baby’s All Right
North Carolina party-friendly garage rock band The Nude Party kick off their three-week Thursday residency at Baby’s tonight.

Photay, Paul Raffaele & Barbie Bertisch (Love Injection), Astro Nautico All-Star DJs @ Baby’s All Right
Brooklyn electronic musician Photay’s new Onism is a jittery, kinetic album pulling sounds from all over the place. This is the release show.

The Killing Floor, Vansaders, Hey Zeus, Hey Guy @ Bowery Electric
Ahead of Gogol Bordello’s new album and tour, side project Hey Guy plays a small hometown show tonight.

Talib Kweli (DJ) @ Brooklyn Bowl
As he often does, Talib Kweli takes over Questlove’s weekly Bowl Train DJ night tonight.

Maria Bamford, Jackie Kashian @ The Bell House
Maria Bamford, who mined some dark personal material into terrific (and healing) standup as well as her Netflix series Lady Dynamite, plays her second of two nights at The Bell House this evening.

Alejandro Escovedo, Joy Ely @ City Winery
Two progressive country vets share the bill for what should be a terrific night of rootsy rock. Night one of two.

PAT Party @ Union Pool
It’s time for JD Samson’s monthly PAT Party, featuring “good vibes, good sound, video projection by local video artists and DJ’s that aren’t afraid to go deep.” Those DJs tonight include Amber Valentine, Lauren Flax, and CARLOS JADAQUE.

Banda Magda @ MoMA
This week’s edition of MoMA’s “Summer Thursdays” series features globally influenced quintet Banda Magda.
